The Smashing Pumpkins once said that the world is a vampire, a statement that in my youth I didn't entirely agree. But as I age, I see the self destructive and idiotic tendencies of the world at large, at the top and at the bottom and I wonder if man was ever meant to do anything more that reap woe down upon itself. Compassion and altruism while present in our world are self serving and grandiose, more done for the rights to brag about it than for the morale reason that it is right. The worst part is that I am no better, a mere animal surivor just trying to get along as best I can in a world that seems intent on destroying every vestige of humanity in everyone. It maddens and sickens me to no end knowing that despite what my rosy coloured memories recall, that stark facts tell me it is no better and no worse than before, only different results to the same root causes the greed and disgusting nature of mankind.
