Alternate Timeline; I Love You

Jul 28, 2008 17:59

Clouded pitch,
my heart's mirror,
unclear and stormladen.
An entertaining though,
this "What If."
A question of
untravelled paths,
indecisive footfalls,
Presents and Futures unattainable.
Happiness that might've been
and never will.

To hold friend dear
in lover's embrace
brushing aside wisps of hair
with soft touches from rough hands.
Faces pulled together
and joined through lips,
her life force surging into me
and mine into her.
This mingling of us!
Oh, the wonders of it,
this body encompassing sensation
wrought from the utterance
of three words, heavily whispered.
Lighter than air, yet heavier than lead.
Oh, how I could fly!
If I weren't nailed down
by my own heart.
I caress those soft curls,
as I'm swallowed by her eyes.
Magnificent, gleaming gems
set in everlasting beauty.

What would have happened, I wonder,
had I diverted my course,
avoided this Present all together.
Would the day hold
this happiness that I desire
or would these words
now describe another?
It seems to be a different ship
bound in the same stormy sea,
these ever rolling clouds of "what if"
dancing in a darkened sky; mind.
More questions borne
from the womb of this one,
poisoning my very soul.

This would be my wish, First Star
if you would grant it,
damning the consequences,
for but this brief lapse
of possibly self-indulged misery.
