Last night at Fred Meyer

Tonight at Fred Meyer (2/9/13)

I was singing a song about the awful state of the eggs to the tune of “Food, glorious food” from Oliver!: “Eggs, terrible eggs! Why won’t you delight me? It’s like you ‘re all craaaaaacked ju-u-ust to spite me,” etc.
S had found two dozen good eggs and I was still working on my first dozen. She started to walk away to get some frozen vegetables, but first paused, pointed at me, and said, “Remember: big girls don’t cry. Because it’s important to have generalized behavioral standards for women.”
I started laughing and she sort of strutted away, and I shouted after her, “I LOVE YOU!!!”
Some guy (maybe in the “natural foods” section, or the bakery?) yelled, “I LOVE YOU TOO!”
“Sorry, dude, not you!! Her!”
“But you don’t even know me!” he cried plaintively.
“Kind of my point,” I muttered.
S, stopped in her tracks in front of an endcap, doubled over with laughter, said, “I guess it’s just that kind of night.”
