That's the major ESA report out of the door yesterday. It wasn't quite fiished, I could have safely spent another week on the report, but it probably would have only made a marginal improvement.
Yes, I know. I have problems letting things go. I'm a natural hoarder.
On the plus side, I did have a chance to mess around with
PovRay - the free 3D rendering program. It takes me back to when I used to mess around with Lightwave and Imagine on the Amiga. Oh, those were the days.
This is the result: the three tea-cup looking objects are satellites bound to the triangular space-web. The mesh is shown, and the nice gradient colour is supposed to be assembled by the two robots (also shown).
It must have taken me about 4 hours to figure out how to do something like this, but it was fun :D
Went to the dentist yesterday, got a filling and some
tongue hoovering. Honestly, it felt like my entire tongue had been grasped and yanked. I wouldn't be surprised if it's bruised, but tongues heal quickly.
Had a slight panic the other day as well, the computer crashed pretty badly while playing DiabloII with Jo. When I restarted, the BIOS just kept coming up with Hard drive not found, press F1 to continue. Cue mild to moderate panic.
I've got backups of all the major files - I'm not too worried about losing everything because of careful planning, but still, that was heart in mouth for a while there.
Taking the back of the PC cooled things down, the HDD started again. Moderate to severe relief!
Eventually decided that I would like a new case, the old one has been with me for 8 years+ and 3 systems. It's a bit cramped, to say the least, and causing a few problems. It's done me well though, and I might just end up rewarding it with a severe modding. Just because.
The new case is
below:
And should last me for at least the next 5 years, if the reviews are correct. Hopefully, it'll be a bit quieter than the last PC too, as I've ordered some golf-ball indented Sharkoon fans to replace the quiet (but I can still hear) PSU fans. Install report tomorrow or at the weekend, hopefully, if everything goes well.
