The Internet is frustrating at times

One of the HARDEST things for me to do in my role at Paizo as Creative Director (and, yup! Got a promotion!!) is holding back my fingers when someone gets all self-righteous, trollish, obnoxious, or annoying on our messageboards. Especially if they're wrong. ESPECIALLY if a Paizo employee calls them on being a douche and then they use that as fuel for "The company badmouths the customers; they're the bad guy!" type soapboxing.

The theory is that the VAST majority of folks on our messageboards seem to be QUITE happy with Paizo, what we're doing, and appreciate the public presence I and my co-workers have on the boards... and that when some sort of griever starts sounding off, the problem will correct itself and the angry or cranky or dissatisfied poster (aka troll) will slink off to find some place on the internet where he feels welcome. I'm actually REALLY proud of our boards, and of how well-behaved and polite the majority of those who post there are, especially given the fact that we're really pretty light-handed when it comes to moderating the boards. True, we've had to get a little bit more direct with the moderation since the RPG has been such a huge hit-it's brought in a HUGE amount of new folks to the boards, and while that means the amount of cool new people has increased dramatically... it unfortunately also means that the number of grievers and jerks has grown as well.

Anyway... just needed to vent. And wanted to say THANK YOU to the vast majority of folks who post at paizo.com's messageboards in a polite and friendly manner. You are more appreciated by me than I think anyone realizes.

pathfinder, work
