Yeah, I think Austen would work well on audio, because everything interesting happens in dialogue - or in letters, which you can do as narration.

PotO sounds like a great idea! I love the tragedy of the novel.

I'm trying to think of any novels where the audio element is sufficiently rich/important for Big Finish to strut their stuff....and drawing a blank.

I can't think of any other novels off the top of my head that have a musical or audio element built into them in the same way that The Phantom of the Opera seems to. I think it would be cool to see Big Finish tackle some classic early science fiction or proto-science fiction novels, like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or Frankenstein.

This is really interesting!

Well, you don't need to be in the UK to listen to BBC 7 - you can do it from their web site. (Allegedly, anyway. I haven't tried it yet.)

It wasn't done by Big Finish, but apparently some of Pratchett's novels were adapted for BBC Radio 4. However, I can't find any evidence that they were ever released on CD or anything. (This is something that I don't understand, actually. As far as I can tell, very little BBC Radio output is made available for purchase after broadcast. It seems like a no-brainer that anything based on Pratchett's work would have sales potential.)

Yeah, I know -- it's just hard to keep track of what's on, and when.
