Engagement!!

I've kind of failed on that 100 post thing I was meant to do here, and no I don't post here often but this is still the place I turn to when I have lots to say and exciting/important things to say, much like now: I'M ENGAGED!!!
This must seem suprising and even shocking to some of you seen as some of you haven't even met Amanda and those that have have only met her once or twice. And of course the fact that we haven't been together for all that long really. The truth though is that though we haven't been together long we've spent most of that time living together and we have been through a lot in a short space of time. We always feel and have always felt that we've been together for much longer and we've always just simply fit together. Nothing could be more obvious to us that we work and this is it :)

So we'd talked about marriage and engagement and the only real reason not to was because we were worried our friends and family might be worried about us! Which is silly, when we know it's right why wait? So we got excited and looked at rings, first just me in secret but then I let her in on it and we kind of both chose a ring. She didn't know when or how I'd be proposing though so I had to work hard to keep it a secret and make it a surprise. I somehow managed to convince her that though I'd thought about proposing on Valentine's day I'd decided against it because it'd be too obvious (even though she knew I needed the ring quick because my plans were time constrained!) I had a few ideas of the how but it all had to change when we found out the reservation I'd booked had changed, the restaurant had restricted the menu and quadrupled the price in honour of Valentines day. So instead of a day at the museums and a meal in Kensington I decided to take her on Safari at Woburn. We had an incredible day out as the facebook pictures attest, we had monkeys on the car and on our shoulders!! I then got her to sit and watch Holby City's whilst I prepared dinner and cleared the bedroom (a LOT of work). Somehow she didn't even suspect we were eating upstairs. I made vegan duck l'orange and a chocolate cake dessert (that didn't work too well, the ice cream covered that though, bad time to try diabetic cooking for the first time!) I put a couple of tables up in the bedroom, tealights alll around the room and a candleabra on a stool next to the table. I'd also created a special playlist for dinner so she came up to some classical music playing. I'd attempted to time the playlist so that our song would come on about the time that we'd finish eating. Looking at the portion sizes I decided to skip the first five tracks... To PERFECTION!! Around 5 mins after we'd finished the dessert our song came on and I span round to her underwear drawer behind me where I'd hidden the ring got on my knee and asked her to marry me. I wanted to be quick to enable it to stay a surprise, though I'd have liked to say a few words about how much I love her first she would have known what I was about to ask and I wanted those words to be a surprise. Amanda nodded and gave me a huge hug, I slipped the ring on and asked again, she said no lol. I then reminded her that she hadn't actually said yes yet so had to ask a third time to get the yes! Then I went back to the underwear drawer and got out a second Valentines Day card, this one saying Fiancee, which made her cry. All in all a good proposal I think :)
Now we just have a big wedding to plan on a budget of less than zero! Not sure how we'll do it but we will and it's all incredibly eciting! I'll try to keep y'all posted when I ever have time!
