Surprising talk with a friend

Last weekend I went to a friend's birthday party. There isn't much to say about it really, it was just the usual mix of extremely drunk people. It does interest me how humans will consume large amounts of alcohol to make themselves more sociable and make them feel better for just a few hours, to ignore their shitty lives. Only to puke it all up later and have a headache for a day.

In any case, I had also wanted to take the time to get to know the birthday girl better. I have no strong feelings for her, but as she's a good friend and we seem to get along well, it has crossed my mind to consider asking her out. Just for the heck of it. And she had just become single a month ago.
But I'm a bit afraid because I don't have feelings for her, and I don't want her to fall for me if I can't return the feeling.

Turns out she seems to be dating someone else. Oh well.

And then I found myself interested in another girl, only to find out later in the party that she too was accounted for. I had no feelings for either but it did make me feel "forever alone".

Then, before I left, the birthday friend drags me into her bedroom. Awkward! It turns out she wanted to talk to me. She knew about my background!!! She said she had known for almost a year but didn't know how to say anything. But she said I was the nicest guy ever and she didn't care if I had done anything bad. And she was so drunk she repeated herself several times. I was just sitting there in a total daze.

I'm still shocked about the whole thing. I feel very uncomfortable now.
