My experiences of 2011

Feb 07, 2012 21:01

Why has it been a week since I posted the last one of these? Grrr....

Well, 2011 came and went... rather quickly. I think it was because I was working full time, and so 2/3rds of my day is either sleeping or working. If this is what being an adult is, I want to stay a kid! I don't want my years to fly by and suddenly find myself being 40...and then 50... before I even know it!

In any case, the year was actually pretty okay, except some rough spots with the car. I graduated, I got off that supervision thing, I kept a full-time job for a year. I paid off debts. I joined Facebook. I went to more cons in one year than I ever have, even with the fact I worked almost EVERY SINGLE DAY last year. And then the bad. Yes, I worked almost every single day last year, and my car broke down quite a bit, and I spent a lot of money on it. And there were a lot of shitty snowstorms I almost got stuck in. I got banned from Facebook.

Anyway, here's the details, as best as I can remember:
January
- The lady that was suing me settled with the court, or had the case dismissed, or something. I didn't have to pay jack.
- Saw Tron Legacy
- Took out a guy's mailbox.
- I joined Facebook.

February
- Lots of snow fell and I got stuck several times. Had to get towed out of snow about... 2-3 times I'd say.
- An old high school guy found me on Facebook and acted rather hostile towards me due to a rumor he heard about me.... I wish our friendship hadn't ended that way...
- The external hard drive I had all my important shit backed up on died... but then came to life long enough for me to save the shit.
- I watched AMV Hell 5
- My school's gaming club had a 5-game tournament... THE SAME DAY U of M's anime club had their all day anime event, Con Ja Nai. I drove back and forth and attended both, but dammit it was annoying.
- Someone at work covered for me that day, and failed horribly.
- I subbed his route as well (because I promised). For a week. AND I DIDN'T FUCKING FAIL LIKE HE DID. Hah!

March
- The teacher in one of my classes acted like a dick towards me. No one wanted me in their assignment group like it was motherfucking high school dodgeball, and I was on my own. Teacher did dick about it. Fuck his ass.
(I passed anyway)

April
- I didn't April Fools for the first time in ages.
- More crazy shit happened in that stupid class.
- Went to a furry convention for the second year in a row. Even though I couldn't find anyone to cover my shift, and boss didn't want the guy who covered me before (and screwed up) screwing up shit again.
- Right after the con I busted my radiator. $400.
- The outlets in my apt were updated, but not after they kept me up for 2 hours...

May
- Had a cough I figured out was allergies, so I started wearing a facemask and that helped.
- Crazy ass weather, dead animals, live animals. Just another day at work.
- And a landslide, too.
- Went to Comic Con, met awesome celebs.
- Saw Thor. Fuck yea!
- Read some bull by a stupid person.
- AND I FUCKING GRADUATED!!!

June
- Fixed the clutch in my car. $1200.
- I started having arguments with a co-worker. This would happen a few times.
- The US government becomes more Big Brother ... this affects me directly. sigh.
- Grades and examples from classes. Ended up graduating with a 2.9 GPA.

July
I only posted one entry this entire month! It was a rant about the Casey Anthony trial and how I felt her verdict was appropriate in light of the lack of evidence, and how I was tired of stupid Americans claiming someone's guilty before they're even tried.
So the rest of this stuff is just stuff I remembered. I think I posted most of what I did this month on Facebook, that's why the journal was empty.
- I went to see fireworks a couple days before the 4th. And then on the 4th, I went to a parade by myself and just made it. I then drove to a suburb in Detroit for fireworks and had trouble finding a parking spot as they started... I finally found a spot tucked next to a dollar store and run down shopping center that was half empty and had a good spot.
- I went to the Saline Celtic Festival for the first time. It was expensive to get in ($15), but was nice. And hot, though, in the 90s.
- I went to the art fair. It was nice, and cool.

August
This month didn't have a lot either...
- Facebook account was suspended. Have no idea why. :(
- I took my car in for a loud clunk, and they replaced three things before getting it fixed. Also, my car started leaking oil all over (a crack in the oil filter mount) and they had to fix that. $700.
- Lots of conflicts in my schedule.
- Went to Godaiko Con.
- Went to the local historical festival.
- Went to Rennaissance Festival.
- I also think this was when I got into My Little Pony.... >_>;;;; It was definitely before the convention.

September
- Finally fixed the control arm on my car after having to buy a torch and cook one of the nuts off. I'd have to replace it next January because it was a defective arm.
- Had a busy Labor Day. Hung out with some furs at a sports bar/arcade joint. Did some other cool stuff.  Oh, and the Science center. I could have sworn I had an entry for this weekend. Oh wait, it was posted in October for some reason.
- Went to Renaissance Festival. Dressed up!!! Bought a nice leather pouch for $25.
- Signed up for Calc 2, decided I couldn't handle it, dropped it.
- WENT AND SAW AVENUE FUCKING Q!!!! LIFE GOAL COMPLETED!
- Looked back at summer, realized it was not productive.
- Thought about the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. A local university put up a memorial, a steel beam from one of the towers.
- I had my job for a whole year and almost worked every single day. Crazy shit.
- An old friend, John, started up a BESM RPG pen&paper game with some guys from the anime club. The game got through about 5-6 sessions before everyone became too busy to play. It's a pity because I enjoyed the game a lot.

October
- Replaced the clutch's master cylinder and had a lot of trouble doing it because it was in a hard to access place like most cars and wasn't made easy to replace.
- Got stuck in the longest line I have ever seen for the last day of the Renaissance Festival. Mother needed to pee and whined the whole time, after we passed three places of businesses.
- Reminisced about the time I roleplayed Star Trek online.
- The local football teams started winning for a change. The Lions would go on to the playoffs, and Michigan would have a bowl game.
- I saw something that cannot be unseen.
- I fought with the coworker again... second time... -_-;
- I enjoyed Halloween. Ended up being invited to some friend's house last minute,

November
- Spent a week rushing to get ready for the big convention all last minute.
- Went to Youmacon and mostly had a good time. The ugly, bad, and good, and pictures.
- Didn't go to see a comedian on my birthday. Instead, read a horrific story about a tortured kitten. :(
- Did some things for Thanksgiving. Went to Jenni's family's house, went to my own family's house. I think I did other stuff, but I forgot what it was.

December
- Coworker flips out on me for third time, this time I walk away and go fume somewhere else. Guy needs medication.
- Car had all sorts of things needing replaced. Tires, spark plugs, rear brakes, half the rear suspension. $1100. I muse that car places replace entire parts rather than just what need to be fixed to get more money.
- I start to develop a cold that will bug me for 5 weeks. It makes me miss a concert I kinda wanted to go to.
- I fix the car's front brakes. I accidently install the clips on wrong and fret for a whole day until the shop tells me how I screwed up.
- I'M FREE AT LAST, GOD DAMMIT!!!
- Christmas, and shit.

And that was that, said the cat.
