I now have time but wonder if there's a point (the Elections)

I now have time to post about the election, the reasoning behind my choices, and the anime convention I went to.

But now that it's two weeks past the events I wonder if there's any purpose or reason.

Well, with the con I still have pictures to upload, edit, clean, color correct (if I can), and post. So I can talk about the con then, when I post the pics.

As for the election, it's gone and done. Next year Republicans will be in control of the state, and the US House. They'll try to keep Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell, they'll try to extend Bush's tax cuts for the rich because we know those fucking rich people need all their money. The Republicans will repeal health care because god knows there's nothing wrong with the greedy system. And they'll spend most of their effort making Obama look stupid and getting him out of office, instead of, you know, RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT. And I'm sure they won't fix the economy or the debt.

During the election I almost voted for a Republican, though.

The GOP candidate for Governor, Dick Snyder, was a businessman, former CEO of Gateway, and about as centrist, moderate, independent, and libertarian as you can get in a Republican. Repubs like him are about the only ones I'd ever vote for. I don't agree with everything a Libertarian believes in but I like them better than the GOP.

However, he had little government experience, and is still a rich businessman. Not to mention he says he's a nerd because he's business savvy and has read Forbes from childhood, which is insulting to gaming & sci-fi & science & computer & furry nerds like me.

The Democrat, Virg Bernero, had a lot of support for Labor Unions, and has quite the temper. I didn't agree with everything he's about. However, I liked the guy, and he has a proven track record of balancing budgets and cutting government spending and pork (like in Lansing), which is somewhat rare for a Dem. So I voted for him due to his experience and track record.

The Dick still won, though. But he seems like an okay guy, and if he screws up maybe we can vote him out in 4 years.

elections, republicans, democrats, politics, republican idiots
