Yes, I defrosted the fridge with an iron.
Well, I actually only defrosted part of the fridge. Most of it could be easily scraped out. But there was ice accumulated around the opening that made it hard to open or shut the door, and I'd have to use force to break the ice which might break the door.
But since my food was starting to thaw, I needed to find something quick to melt the ice. Fire might damage the fridge. I had no hair dryer. But then I looked at my iron, and I thought that it gets hot enough to steam water, right?
To make sure I didn't melt the plastic on the fridge I would only hold the iron to the ice for a few seconds at a time, but it melted everything within 5 minutes. As long as you do it carefully, I think it works out great.
