Well, my year's started out pretty shitty, eh? Having trouble with financial aid and getting the classes I want. I just hope this isn't a sign of coming things!
New Years Resolutions!
- Keep Glucose low. I want to try to keep my glucose at a pretty low or normal, or as close to normal as I can. I really don't want to be put on insulin shots, and they may do that if I can't keep it low.
- Eat better. I'm doing okay at eating okay, but I'm sure I can do better if I try.
- Cook more. I have the tendency to eat a lot of quick microwavable meals and stuff I can cook up real fast, which isn't exactly healthy. I'd like to learn how to be a better cook and be able to cook really healthy and easy to prepare meals.
- Exercise more. I thing the hardest thing I've been asked to do with my diabetes is walk more, which is something I need to do. It's hard when I don't have a lot of time, or when it's bitter cold, to motivate myself to walk. Exercise of any kind is needed really... I should work on getting myself to ski more in the winter when there's snow, and bike more in the warmer months.
- Join a fitness club and condition myself. I almost said "lose weight" but not all weight is bad. Instead, I'd like to replace a lot of the fat on my body with muscle so I have a good, toned, somewhat muscular body. I also want to do a lot of aerobic exercise to get my heart rate up and my metabolism up so my body burns more sugar at rest.
- Try to get a new job before I run out of unemployment. That's a given.
- Succeed at school. I want to get on the right path to getting the certificates and degrees I want, and I think I'm doing good so far.
- Figure out what I want to do with my life. If I will ever do that in this lifetime.
Over half those items concern my diabetes.
