Of course those cannibals had to be killed, but I wouldn't have minded seeing them around for one, maybe two more episodes. They were such grand evil ones with the best of taste! Okay, that was cheap. But their storyline really freaked me out, and I "enjoyed" all aspects of that horror feeling. But yeah, I guess it's better for them to go out with a bang than having them dragged along until it gets repetitive.

Hee! Yeah, I totally agree that I wouldn't have minded them as foes for a big longer, but I'm just glad that once our gang had them cornered, they didn't do some bullshit thing like let the cannibals go because they're human. I figured Rick and co. had tricked them (I mean, it would have been intensely stupid if they hadn't!), and clearly they needed to go.

I think Tyrese told Carol he killed that guy in the cabin, right? But clearly not. I mean, I get not wanting to kill people when it's not necessary, this is a brave new world. Gotta protect your own through whatever means are necessary, obviously.

Chad Coleman said on Talking Dead that Tyreese thought he had killed the guy, but apparently he was just knocked out. But if that's the case they really should explain that on screen somehow. Maybe it will come up at some point. Obviously the storyline for Tyreese this season is about how difficult it is for him to kill.

Ah, that's interesting. They did need to clarify that, because I thought he lied to Carol. And yeah, poor guy. But you've gotta do what you gotta do.

Oh yes, they'd better! I was also thinking he lied :/

All these moral dilemmas and questions of how far people will go to survive in the end - including killing and eating their own, obviously - and what it needs to be pushed to that point, those are the main questions this show is about for and my personal main appeal. The character development of Rick alone from 1x01 to where he is now is totally worth everything. Plus, all the others. Daryl. Carol. Also the "baddies", Garreth and his gang, the Governor. It's all super fascinating and so much more than "a zombie show" (I barely care about the zombies, tbqh, yet I enjoy this show a lot).

Oh yeah, I totally agree! The zombies are just window dressing. The characters and their journeys are so fascinating. I'm just glad they're at the point where they are not hesitating to kill humans when those humans would kill them.

I feel like the show did a much better job humanizing the Governor (and granted he was in a LOT more episodes). With Gareth and crew, I was like, OH BOO HOO. There's doing what you need to do to survive, and then there's transforming into complete sociopaths. They were cold-blooded killers, and it didn't really ring true to me. Yeah, it sucked massively to be taken over by baddies and for rapeapalooza to happen, but...

Yes to all of this! Including the Governor remark. I LOVED (in caps, no less) all of his storyline. He - or well, David Morrissey's performance - was the creepiest character I've seen in ages, I was so scared of him. Yet I enjoyed his faux!redemption arc so, so much. That was harsh, awesome, bittersweet, heartbreaking and super evil all at once. So well done, all of it. The Cannibals were a whole other bunch.

Btw, I really need to rec The Affair to you, I feel it would be your kind of show!

David Morrissey was FANTASTIC. There were times when I felt so sorry for the Governor, and times when I was terrified of him, and when I was inappropriately attracted to him. I could understand what Andrea saw in him!

Gareth and the cannibals were really cartoon villains. I mean, they enjoyed the hell out of rounding up people to murder and eat. It just didn't feel true to me. To utterly lose your humanity like that... I dunno. Rick and our gang have sure suffered their fair share of horror, and they're not gleefully eating people. They're not gleefully killing either. It's still grim, even if they're not holding back.

And yes! I saw that you're loving that show. I have such a backlog (Masters of Sex, to name only one), but will add it to the list! :)

It was the glee part that was the most disturbing, yes. All traces of moral were lost with those people, making them pure evil shizophrenic madmen or something - don't really down with the clinical terms, but you get the idea.

Oh yes, Masters of Sex had a splendid second season, you have lots of enjoyable stuff ahead! And good to know The Affair's on the list now. It's so incredible :)
