I think this season really benefitted from watching it over a couple of weeks rather than seven months. I heartily enjoyed it! I was spoiled for Dale and Shane’s deaths by EW, but not for the how. Awww, poor Dale. What a way to go. :(( But lord, Shane’s death did not go down at all as I thought it would!

I figured he’d do something heroic and get bit saving someone, and he and Rick would reconcile as he lay dying, and then Rick would have to put him down. Okay, so it wasn’t like that at all, LOL. I was glad Lori thanked Shane for everything he did for her and Carl while Rick was not-dead, because I think he deserved that. Then of course he decided to lure Rick out to the woods and kill him, so my goodwill ran out. It’s so sad that it came to that. Rick really didn’t have a choice at that point.

That said, his anti-democracy speech at the end had me giving Rick the side eye. I get where he’s coming from, and I do think he’s a good person and a hero at heart. He’s just had a really shitty couple of days. I also like that no one’s perfect. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next season with this whole prison thing and Andrea’s hooded saviour.

Looooove Carol/Darryl and want them to hook up next season. Norman Reedus is so compelling. Also really enjoyed the addition of Lauren Cohan. I’ve always liked her.

I’d actually completely forgotten about the secret that they’re all infected. Did the audience learn that at the end of S1? Or did we not know for sure? But really, what good does it do knowing? There’s nothing they can do about it except not die. Although I suppose it’s good to know that if someone dies of other causes you still have to be on zombie watch. But I get Rick wanting proof before burdening everyone with that fun tidbit.

Looking forward to S3!
