Band of Brothers

Burned through the rest of Band of Brothers on the weekend, and I'm rather disappointed in myself that it took me 10 whole years to watch this show. So, SO good. Obviously heartbreaking at times, but also a beautiful testament to the power and bond of friendship. I thought it was amazing. Great, great cast. Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston, Scott ( Read more... )

ron livingston, herr fassbender, damian lewis, something gay no doubt, fangirl alert!, band of brothers

OMG that is indeed a true fact! I will download toute suite. I only know Matthew as the dad on GG. Needless to say it is beneath his talents.

My dad loved The Pacific, but he likely has a different perspective. What didn't you like? Dad just ordered a few of the books the soliders it focuses on wrote. I was looking through the pictures and there's one of a marine crouching by dead friends with his hand over his face and I'M GOING TO TEAR UP RIGHT NOW THINKING ABOUT IT. Gah.

I'm so taken with BoB. Dad's going to upgrade to the BR (which has SDH, and with the BR player he can use a device and get the sound right in his hearing aids) and give me the DVDs. :D :D :D In the meantime I feel like I need to download and rewatch key scenes. (Key = Winters/Nixon, obvs.)

OMG that scene with Ron almost getting show is one of my very faves. I seriously GASPED. Scared me as much as it did Dick! If I wasn't watching with the 'rents, I would have rewound a zillion times. The way Dick was all, "NIX!" and at his side. Boys being worried about each other = GOLD.

Well, fab! He is v. v. talented. He plays Jacob Wheeler and he goes out into the world for more adventure in his life. It's so different than his character in BoB ... who is a little terrifying.

I think compared to BoB, The Pacific didn't have the camaraderie that was seen in BoB. In Band, you started out with the troop at the beginning and you followed their journey through the end. It made those characters memorable. Plus, you did have the friendship between Nix and Winters. Nix was great with the laughs and Winters was a strong leader. The Pacific didn't have a strong leader type. The war was very different in Asia than it was in Europe. The Pacific followed individuals and I found that difficult to follow and difficult to care for them as a whole because one minute I'm following someone back home in the States and the next minute I'm following someone in Japan and then Australia. It was a different feel. It wasn't as solid. It didn't capture the spirit of Band of Brothers. That's just how I felt about it. Still give it a watch!

Ooh! Fab on the upgrade. It is phenomenal in HD. And plus you get the DVDs, yay!

Boys being worried about each other = GOLD.

ALWAYS. Omg, he ran straight after him. He loves Nix v. much. Now I wanna watch these when I get home! :D

Warning: Christian Kane also appears in Into the West. Just sayin'. :)

I also saw Life before BoB, and it made me want to search out the miniseries. I felt that the character Damian plays could have been so overbearingly quirky if it had been someone else in the part. Meaning: If I read the dialog on the page, I might not have liked the character at all. And his partner is gorgeous.

Lastly, remember when Ron L was on The Practice? ob-JEC-tion!

PS: Ron was also brilliantly funny as the star of the movie "Office Space". I was amazed he could do such intense drama in BoB after loving him for the funny for so long.

More importantly, how's his hair in it?

Yeah, I remember thinking Damian's character on that show could go either way. Downloading it ASAP!

I have thankfully blocked out anything I ever saw of The Practice from my memory banks. :)
