TGIF!

I totally rolled my eyes the past few weeks at the royal wedding frenzy in the media, and I didn't get up to watch it live, but god damn if I wasn't grinning like a fool watching William and Kate in the carriage and on the balcony. I love how she said, "Oh my God" when she walked out. Yeah, that must be quite a sight to see! And so sweet that Harry said to Will, "Wait 'til you see her" when she was walking down the aisle. Awwwwww. I'm not made of stone, people! The Harry and William bromance is so adorable. Love those boys.

Also, gotta love royal wedding day because we used it as an excuse to bring in pastries and such for breakfast at work. I made my mom's congress tarts, which are a Cornish tart with strawberry and almond. Yum.

I also loooooove the dress. So gorgeous, and Kate looked amazing. I'm also a sucker for British pomp and circumstance. My mom (who is British) and I are going to the Toronto Symphony's version of the Last Night of the Proms in June, which they do every year. We've always said we should go, but never got around to it.

CTV had Tracey Ullman as one of the commentators, and after the planes flew by, she deadpanned, "And off to Tripoli." Ha! You could practically hear the CTV anchors choking. She was like, "Sorry, sorry. Well, you wanted topical." Hee. Speaking of the war(s), I think everyone just wanted something happy to focus on.

We've got a national election on Monday, and media coverage is totally eclipsed by the wedding. Pretty young people in love totally win over middle-aged white men campaigning. But speaking of the election, looks like a Conservative majority is out of reach, and that the NDP (New Democratic Party, aka socialists, aka my party) could very well be the official opposition. The Liberals have really dropped in the polls. Needless to say I will be thrilled if the NDP can pull off the upset. I can't quite see them winning, but that would be amazeballs.

I've already voted since I'll be away on election day (there are three days of advance polling a week before the election), and I had a good chuckle thinking of what most Republicans would say if they saw our ballot. Along with the three major parties -- Conservative, Liberal and NDP -- there is the Green Pary, along with the Marxist-Leninist Party, which is not to be confused with the Communist Party! And there were a few others I can't even remember. Of course they never win any seats (although the Green Party has a relatively high profile), but I enjoy that we have a wide political spectrum. Mostly leaning way to the left, heh. Hell, our Tories (aka Conservatives) are left of Democrat.

Anyway, will be an interesting election on Monday.

true north strong and free, fangirl alert!
