This and that

1. It really goes without saying at this point, but the ATWT honchos can go die in a fire anytime now. Expecting the worst, since they certainly have a proven track record in delivering in that regard.

2. Watched first four seasons of Entourage. S1 was okay, S2 was better, and S3 was where it really hooked me. I root so hard for all the boys, even ( Read more... )

What a shame about Brian Orser. Too bad Yu-Na doesn't have the guts to tell her mother to piss off. The woman sounds like a bitch. But the footage of the other couple was very impressive, at least to my untrained eye, and it makes me happy that at least one player in that story (Stanislav) was generous and thought beyond himself.

I'm really disappointed in Yu-Na. I know she's very young and as a mega, MEGAstar in Korea, I'm sure she has a bunch of advisors calling the shots alongside her mother and has little control. But to treat Brian so badly is just unacceptable.

I was so touched when I heard Stanislav retired so Tatiana could move on to a better partner. Bless. And I've always liked Maxim, so this partnership is very exciting. Their side-by-side spins at 1:30 in that clip were gorgeous, especially considering the short time they've been together. Obviously Sochi is four years away, but I love seeing new teams up and coming.

You can say that again and again and again. As a lifetime soap viewer, I've seen some crazy crap but this is just pure stupidity.

Maybe GenKill will arrive soon so you can have something good to watch.

Seriously, I've witnessed a lot of soap stupidity over the years, but this takes the cake. Granted, I'm also crazy invested in this ship, but it just makes zero sense any way you look at it.

Yes, I need some good TV. At least I have something to look forward to. Thanks again! :)

Anytime. :) And I agree, it makes no sense any way you look at it, from any character or couple perspective.

Hey, I have an idea! How about Uncle Ralph take a bullet to the head and Janet give his heart to Chris so that the man responsible for killing Brad can actually do one decent act in his whole miserable life. What? No? He's too old? Well, how about this Blackie dude who I admit to FF? What? No? Oh, yeah, can't screw the gay people over that way.

I enjoyed a lot of this past season of SPN, with a few exceptions. The meta can stop *any* time. I was thoroughly turned off by the episode with the convention, and if I see Fangirl again, I may be forced to throw something at my TV. And I found the finale *phenomenally* underwhelming, given what they'd been building up to. *That* was the apocalypse? *That's* how they fixed it? And I agree with the coming back to life thing. Becoming silly.

All that said, I am really happy that wasn't the series finale. I would have been gravely disappointed if it was. And I am looking forward to season 6, especially given what I've heard about their plans.

See?? I can discuss things other than ATWT!!

Oh yeah, as far as the apocalypse goes, the SPN finale was waaaaay underwhelming. But I thought it was really satisfying from a character, coming-full-circle perspective. I've heard S6 will be monster of the week again, which is a very welcome change, IMO. I dug the angels/God aspect in S4, but S5 didn't do it for me. I think the other thing is that Sam and Dean have had the same fight a million times (yes, Dean, you have abandonment issues, we know!) and character-wise, they can't keep going over and over the same stuff. And yeah, the meta got too much. I enjoy a bit of meta, but they went too far.

I just feel like Kripke's had his ending, and now the show will linger on without clear vision. I don't know how you go back to MoW after God and the devil, creatively and thematically speaking. But as I said, I would much rather have MoW, so I'm just hoping to be entertained.

Hee. I look forward to not talking about ATWT soon! Roll on, Sept. 17 and just pull this band-aid off.

I take it you never saw the demon/Apocalypse arc on "Highlander" then? Where the, er, "hero" "accidentally" murders his innocent best friend, gets over it in like 2 minutes and then proceeds to save the world by boring the demon to death. I wish I was kidding. Apparently, all he had to do was meditate on the floor and acknowledge that the demon existed for it to die in a puff of smoke. That storyline pretty much ruined the show forever. Who, me? Bitter still? Nah! Just like I'm sure I won't still be insulting Goutman 15 years from now. ;)

I do applaud a return to Monster of the Week. (If only we could return to Jared pre-beefy.) And I'm sure I'll enjoy it, it just feels like the big plan has concluded. But considering I didn't love S5, I might enjoy S6 much more.

Powerful stage parents are big in individual sports where athletes especially females start so young. I hope that once she matures a bit Yu-Na Kim will at least apologize to Brian and his team.

Yeah, stage parents are a huge problem on the women's tennis tour as well. Yu-Na doesn't have anything resembling a normal life in Korea, and I don't think her mother helps in the slightest. Heards lots of stories and seems Grade A Crazy.
