Dance, I said

Some late thoughts.

So far I am loving the all-stars season because the dancing is top notch. For me, Melinda was the weakest and while I really want to be impressed with her tapping, I'm not so much. Believe me, I love a good tap dance, but she just hasn't wowed me. I don't dislike her (and it amuses me to no end that she was the dreaded Zoe on ATWT! I knew she looked familiar!), but I don't think she'll last long.

I was really pleased to see Canadian Sean Cheeseman doing African jazz! He's a staple on the Canadian version, as both guest judge and choreographer, and is such a sweetheart. I didn't watch cycle six of the US version so I don't know if this is a new thing having more genres, but I'm very glad. I've always loved that the Canadian show showcases a variety of international dance styles, such as dancehall and capoeira, etc. Robert did the afro jazz really well! I quite enjoy him.

Speaking of Canadians, I'm loving Alex, but I'm afraid they're overpraising him, which will turn people against him for being teacher's pet. I do think he's amazing, though. You simply cannot beat a professional ballet dancer for technique, training and discipline. As fleegull put it, he was dancing to one of the most fucked out songs of the past 20 years, but he transcended it.

I feel bad for Alexie, because she didn't do poorly at all. But I had a feeling it would be her. It always sucks being the first one cut. But the field is so strong this year that there are going to be tough cuts ahead. I think Adam was also unfair to...whatshername. The blonde who danced with Ade. She was saying thank you because she was thanking the judges for their comments. I mean, you know the dancers are balls of nerves up there getting critiqued on live TV, and I'd probably be babbling in their shoes (or feet, I suppose). I didn't feel that she wasn't listening.

I loved that move in the hip-hop when Comfort threw herself around Jose. Fierce! That was a great number. Billy Bell is just the cutest and he did a great job, too. Kent's ballroom really was great considering it's not his genre. He definitely needs to grow out of just being a cutie with an aw-shucks grin on stage, but obviously it's early days yet. And I thought the girl who danced with Neil did a lovely job.

I really liked every single number, which I don't think has happened often in the past. Can't wait for more!
