Lately Gwen has been complaining about a girl in her class. Her complaint is based on that this girl doesn’t play with other girls (she plays with the boys) and that she doesn’t like girl stuff and she likes boy stuff. We’ve tried explaining 2 things to Gwen
1) It’s OK for girls to like “boy’s stuff”
2) Gwen, you like “boys stuff”
Let’s face it, as this is bring (poorly) written, Gwen is watching Justice League (season 1) on DVD. She knows more about superheroes than many grown men, watches Clone Wars (but not the actual Star Wars movies), used to watch the original Transformers series all…the…time, quotes Doctor Who (“DON’T BLINK!” “Are you my mummy?”), has painted some of my miniatures-OK, the list goes on and on.
But she doesn’t think of any of that as “boy’s stuff”. It’s all just stuff she likes and she likes to share with everyone. She still dresses up as Disney princesses but she also wants to dress as Batgirl for Halloween (or is it River Song this week, or Supergirl, hell I’ve lost track).
So anyway, I think there is a point somewhere here, but I’ll just leave it to you to figure out what that is.
