Went to high risk dr. for 3D ultrasound...problems

Feb 22, 2008 00:30

Well, I was just supposed to go to get a 3D ultrasound. We were not expecting anything wrong at all, even though my blood sugars are still a little out of whack.

We definately did not expect to hear that our baby has mild ventriculomegaly. It is a condition in which the ventricles in the brain are abnormally large. Ventriculomegaly may be associated with agenesis of the corpus callosum, spina bifida, Down syndrome, and heart defects.

The highest normal size is 10mm, and our baby's is 10.9. I am hoping that everything is going to be alright, since this is considered a very mild case...but I am still nervous.

Has anyone else gone thru this at all?? If so, what happened after the baby was born?

Edit (2/22/08, 8:40am): I am 33w 3d (33w 1d during the ultrasound). Normally, they catch this on the ultrasound in the second trimester.
