Howdy folks,
Yeah, well all the BUG pics are in New Orleans so it'll be a while before I post those. Until then I thought I'd share that I am alive and well in Baton Rouge. Though saddly I can't say the same for everyone around me. Jenny is a mess, and I'm very powerless to help her saddly. Baton Rouge has doubled to tripled in population overnight, making every problem in BR worse. The Tigers aren't playing their first home game here, and have postponed the season opener. So it's all a mess. Thousands are dead in New Orleans, and the city itself is all but gone.
I want all you Yankees and Westerners to go on notice that you may think Southerns to be second class citizens compaired to other portions of the country, but you're about to realize how important the South, especially Louisiana, is to our great country. Gas prices are going to rise more, Mid-America farmers aren't going to be able to ship crops, NASA won't be able to function, all major importing and exporting will be affected, airlines will we affected, Sugar is likely to rise in price.. Every facet of our nation will feel this.
As for New Orleans... Well the feeling there is hard to describe. The best thing I've thought of is this. Think of yourself being at a home of someone who has just passed away, and the feeling you get realizing that the deceased will never be there again. That's how it feels in regards to New Orleans. The city is dead. Sure, it'll be rebuilt, but New Orleans as we know it is dead. There will be some new version of the city to take its place.
But the important thing is this. Louisiana has a unique spirit that isn't duplicated anywhere in the South or in the entire Union. We will prevail, we will rebuild and we shall not let this keep us down. New Orleans will stand again, Burboun will party again, Mardi Gras parades will roll once more, LSU will win another Sugar Bowl in the Dome. Beyond that Louisiana will save and help it's own. Harry has been down here helping out, Shaq has been here, the Manning boys volunteered their time. Even those who have fallen in love with this state have come to help. John Travolta came here with his plane full of supplies, Jaime Foxx held an auction while in Miami, Matthew Mconnehey visited
God Save the South... God Save Louisiana
