*sigh*

A funny thing happened this morning.  I was cleaning up after a little get-together I had at my house and a weird thing happened while I was washing dishes.  I'm not sure if it was the combination of soap and left-over italian food on the plates... but the mix of smells that it produced was very familiar.  So much so that it made me flash back to the last time I recalled it.

Many years ago, Jenn worked for Grapes Restaurant as there loyal dishwasher.  It wasn't a high class job, but it needed to be done and it gave her an opportunity to socialize with just about everyone.  I used to visit her every weekend just as she was finishing up for the night.  Interestingly enough, when she ran into my arms, she always smelt odd.  Given, she had been around dirty dishes (italian food) and dish cleaner (soap) all night, it was no wonder she smelt like she did.  After time, I became accustomed to that smell.  I guess she could say the same thing about me after a fight night at karate class.

As you can conclude, this was the smell that emanated from my sink as I washed my dishes this morning.  It was almost reassuring and comforting... like she was there, but not really.   Flashing back to a simpler time was nice.  Life isn't all candy and roses... but back then it was.  Sometimes we forget how easy things used to be and how complicated our life has become.  We also have to remember that, without this extra complication, it doesn't allow life to mold and shape us into the people we are today.  (Sorry about the philosophical lesson...)

Just figured I'd share my thoughts.  I'm sure I'm not alone with this experience.
