Heeeey it's a meme!

Haven't done one of these in a while. I don't think I have enough people to tag (nor the inclination to write new questions), but yay answering things.

Was tagged by nuranar.

The rules:
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves in their journal.
2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
3. You have to choose 11 people to tag.
4. No tag backs.

1. What was one of the best Christmas presents you have ever received?
Even though I still can't really use it, I have to say my sewing machine. Because I will learn to use it eventually! Also, a couple of Christmases ago, I got my dream coat. I was despairing, because I didn't think I'd ever be able to afford it, and then it appeared!

2. What was your first car, and how long did it last for you? I've still never had my own car, actually. The one I drive most often is a red Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not sure exactly how old it is. There's 145k miles on it, but that doesn't reflect its age; my dad has a long commute.

3. What's your favorite comedian or comedy team from early film/TV (through 1960)?
I love the Marx brothers. The perfect blend of cutting wit and slapstick. I'm okay with screwball comedies as well, but it kind of depends. I'm not too keen on romantic plots, so I usually like the banter and get bored by the actual film. schmevil and I just watched It Happened One Night, and that was a total scream.

4. What non-winter-time holidays do you decorate for?
I'm not super into holidays, to be honest. Maybe that'll change once I'm not around my family and they're not such a chore. My mom decorates for everything, to be honest.

5. Preferred habitat: Urban, suburban, or rural, and why?
You know, I really like all three? I've lived in suburbia all my life, so that's what I'm used to. However, I do like the anonymity and depersonalization that I feel in an urban environment. (This has no reflection on urban dwellers, I'm just weird.) I truly love being in rural areas, but to be perfectly frank, I miss the amenities of being closer to a city, especially culturally. I can't live without being able to hear live classical music on a regular basis! I could see myself moving to one of the little rural towns around Ann Arbor, though. I really would like to have some land to support myself on. Maybe a goat or two.

6. Austen or Brontë?
AUSTEN. I'm not that big an Austen fan, really, but I'm really not a fan of Romantic literature. On the Austen side, I love Northanger Abbey. I do like Pride & Prejudice, but mostly for the economic stuff and how genuinely funny it is.

7. Would you prefer to have a wonderful singing voice, or to play your musical instrument of choice as a master?
I'd probably prefer to master my instrument. More opportunities and greater longevity. I can't tell you how much I regret not practicing the piano and pipe organ more diligently.

8. What was your least-favorite book read this year?
WAR AND PEACE. I was going to say that I haven't liked a lot of books, but then I remembered that monster. I'll be honest, I totally read it for cred. As a rule, I can't stand Tolstoy, and W&P is no exception. I'm pretty sure everyone's heard my rants, so I'll skip them. FOR NOW.

9. Would you rather garden or cook?
I really like to do both. I guess garden, though? I really like being outside. I'm hoping to get a plot in the local community garden next summer and really go to town with produce.

10. Sew or knit/crochet?
Knitting! I really aspire to become at least a competent seamstress, but I'm having trouble getting anyone to teach me how to use my machine, and I'm not mechanically-oriented enough to figure it out myself without ruining it.

The other major advantage of knitting is that I can do it while watching TV or various other things. Also portability.

11. Fires: Wood fireplace, wood stove, gas logs, chiminea, fire pit, or other?
Wood fireplace. I'll be honest, I don't have exposure to most of these. But gas logs are so soul-less. We have both in our house, and we never use the gas logs. I expect I'd enjoy a wood stove, but they seem like an awful lot of work.
