Good Times With The Family

My half-aunt and half-uncle, cousin and grandpa came into town this weekend to go to my dad's residency graduation. My cousin John is 15, Lindsay is 21 and Doug's 24. They've lived in Colorado all their lives and I've missed out on alot not being there. I would go to visit every couple of years but it was different because Doug and Lynn are a bit older than me. But then today was the first time that Doug and i have joked around since I was about eight. I had a real conversation with Lindsay which hasn't happened in over a decade. We reminisced and talked about the present stuff too. It was really really good. I'm glad that we included John too. He's still going through the trials and tribulations of teenager hood(He'll be a freshman in fall) but then again, so am I really. But we all hung out. We went to White Sands today, before that we went to breakfast and went swimming. All four of us kids look like lobsters but it was really worth it. It's funny to look into the face's of relatives and see yourself. I know it sounds cheesy, but I haven't lived in the same state as a relative since I was 8. We're all so much alike, the blonde hair, the blue eyes, fair complexions, one pointy toe. Okay, maybe thats weird.. It's more than that though. I don't know, It just felt so good to finally get to know them all as people and love them than just as arbitrary blood relative love. It was an amazing day, and I hope that there will be more like it someday.
