My origional plan this Halloween was to reinvent the Mad Hatter costume from last year. Rather than the garish mess that I had last year I was going to go for a much darker, patchwork, and entirely different type of mad Mad Hatter.
That being said people said it was stupid to go as the same thing 2 years in a row so I am choosing to attempt to come up with something else. The cosume needs to fit 3 criteria:
- Easily recognizable - There is very little I like less than people not knowing what the fuck I am supposed to be.
- Not well defined - Frequently my costume ideas turn more into cosplay and less into something fun. It is for this reason that I am seeking an old character. Something that has been done a number of different ways and therefore has some creative room. This, however, requires
that the character have some easily recognizable traits to fill the first condition.
- Something Humanly Possible - While I would love to do the Cheshire cat, I am afraid I cannot.
Second thought: Death
This is not an optimal choice for me. However, I cannot think of anything else at this moment, so I am considering this. Death nicely fits the first possibly and more or less fits the third. It is the second that has me puzzled. Death is a very well defined character, but part of that definition is the ability to take any shape. So..
Scratch that: Jack the Ripper
Hell yes.
