Elisabeth Sladen has died of cancer at the age of 63.Fuck cancer! It's bad enough we lost the Brig this year, but at least Nicholas Courtney was a fair age. But not Sarah Jane too! 63 is no age at all, she was still so young. From fail_fandomanon, and then looking at this mailing list, Diana Wynne Jones has died after a battle with cancer. One of my favorite fantasy authors, Howl's Moving Castle, Dogsbody, Dark Lord of Derkholme and many others are constant rereading fodder.

Dick King-Smith passes away.

I read so many of his books: the Fox Busters, The Sheep Pig, the Water Horse, the Queen's Nose just some of them. So many awesome animal stories. He was right up there with Roald Dahl for my most read authors growing up.

A death I just found out about, this one from my interest in animation. Roy E. Disney dead at 79.Nephew of Walt but also did a lot behind the scenes, including helping to keep Disney animation going during the troubled spots of the 1970/80s and the more recent one that will hopefully be ending with the Princess and the Frog doing well. Even though I had been waiting for this ever since it was announced he had terminal cancer, it's still a shock to me.
