I had my first "Phoning It In" nightmare this morning. It was already 7:30 on Monday, and I hadn't even fully confirmed with the band or gotten their phone number. I was frantically trying to get in touch with Jenn de la Vega online, since she had recommended the band to me, but the station's computers were being super slow. I just kept looping the CD that the DJs on before me had left in the player, playing the exact same sequence of songs they had played in the previous half hour.
And for some reason the station was not in the station, but instead in my basement. All the stacks were mixed up with a bunch of stuff missing, so I couldn't even play music that I wanted, much less get the band on the phone. I pulled a spoken word CD, but the disc was cracked in half, so I left it on the music desk with a note. I couldn't play any vinyl because no one bothered to transfer the turntables to the new location. Plus the basement was leaking since it's been raining, so I also had to keep an eye on all the equipment.
Ugh. I thought I was over those dreams!
