The Myth of Western Civilization

I don't know if I disagree with him. I don't know if the arc bends toward justice or if there is an arc. I haven't read Postwar or Bloodlands, but I have read a lot lately about German history, in first real academic excursion into it of any depth. I don't believe in Sonderweg, I don't believe that Nazi Germany was the inevitable result of German history. German history followed a path not all that different from the rest of western Europe. I do know that since 1945, Germany has been a model western liberal democracy. So there is that. Russia is a country that, unlike Germany, has almost no tradition of rule of law or constitutional government.
