Mr. Turner covers the later part of the life of English artist JMW Turner, from the 1820s to his death in 1851. It is a long movie, 2 and a half hours. It has been attacked by IMDB commenters as being too long and boring and having no plot. But I loved it. I'm not going to go into any details, you will just have to see the movie yourself. This was my favorite kind of movie, a long, leisurely, documentary-like character study of a historical personage. The art direction and the cinematography (by Dick Pope) were incredible. We see Turner's relationship with his fellow artists like John Constable and with the critic John Ruskin. I found this movie inspiring. People who will find it boring should stay away from it and stick to the latest Hollywood dreck. I find it amazing that movies like this can still be made in an age of short attention spans.
