She hated him. She hated everything about him. How he could make her blood boil. How he would kiss her until she submitted to him and to herself. How he had looked at her with so much love. How he’d made her love him back. How he betrayed her to her death at his hands.

But most of all, she hated remembering him.

All of the senshi had been slowly regaining their memories of the Silver Millenium after Chaos had been released. However, while their initial memories of their love for their Princess and for each other had returned quickly, they had not remembered them.

That all changed one night where the leaves burned colors as brightly as those in her fire.

Unlike their previous memories, these memories came in an unpleasant blast. Images filled her head of him: of him smiling, both lovingly and sardonically. There were so many of love and passion that even now brought a fire up inside her that she didn’t think could exist.

Then everything turned to ash.

She watched, unable to wake, as he defected to the Witch Queen’s side. She relived the horror of watching him approach through the visions the Flames provided her and later as he approached at the head of her troops.

She heard her sisters' gasps as their generals approached from the wrong side. Only Venus and she were able to hold back their emotions. Resolving herself, she attempted to heed Venus’s cry of protecting the Princess.

But it was too late. He was in front of her, and she fought him. He sliced her throat, and as she bled out slowly she burned him so that he now resembled the ashes that filled own heart.

She woke up sweating as those last memories of blood and death burned into her brain to mar the other, happier, ones with the charred remains of betrayal.

But even as she lay there gasping for breath, clutching her pillow, hot tears making a river of fire down her face, she knew there was one thing that she hated more than she hated him.

She hated that he was dead, because she still loved him.
