50 Book Challenge - The Big List

Dec 29, 2005 12:47

Like there is any way in hell I can possibly read that much! I'm lucky if I get FIVE books read in a year & even that is a stretch. Even so, there are so many books out there that I want to read. This just might motivate me to get it done. Since I am a slow reader, I will let myself have a tiny head start. I also know when summer rolls around, I ( Read more... )

Yay! A challenge buddy! Excellent. :)

That Frey book sounds really freaky. Are you enjoying it?

I got the idea from you. LOL :)

That book! I love it so much! It was the one thing I really wanted this year for Christmas (other than postage stamps!) that I got, so I couldn't wait to read it.

I must admit though, I skipped reading through 4 or so pages already. Detailed is an entirely too gruesome visit to the dentist that I just couldn't bring myself to read. Think root canals without painkillers or any anesthetic at all. I am WEAK when it comes to that sort of thing.

What are you reading? Or are you waiting til January 01st like we are probably supposed to? :)

I'm waiting until Jan 1, yes. I'll probably start with The Rules of Attraction, um. Just because. Ha! Or maybe the one I got for Christmas. We'll see.

I don't know much about it myself, but from what I understand, bloggers just try to read 50 books in one year. They did it last year & others are trying again this year. I guess it must "start" January 01st. There's a community on lj for it out there, but I didn't join it.

There's a new James Frey book out "My Friend Leonard" or something like that. I haven't seen it yet but a friend got it off of Amazon.com. I loved the first one!

Yes, I saw that one in the Goodwill Store in Bangor (where I bought a ton of books for practically nothing!). I am kicking myself now for not getting it. I have no idea why I didn't. :( He mentions Leonard in this book too.

I am dying to read these books as well!! Each year I keep track in a notebook of what I read and when...in 2005 I read 33 books. Must read more though...that is one of my resolutions for this coming year.

You should especially read A Million Little Pieces. I can't stop thinking about it!

What is your one favourite book? (I think I will pose this question to everyone soon, but for now I ask you!)

I keep hearing that, so I must read that book! I don't know if I have one favorite book since I love so many, and so many different authors...Where the Red Fern Grows is one of my faves, as is Message in a Bottle - Nicholas Sparks. How about you?

Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald.

I'd given A Million Little Pieces to my friend Randy *who NEVER reads* yesterday & he brought it back already!! I think its the first book he's read completely in 20 years. :)

I'll add your books to my list!
