The Moot- Hot And Not.

May 03, 2010 23:52

The traditional Hot-and-Not breakdown follows!

Hot!

1. Makes were completed for the unit- a suit of +1 heavy armour and a crafted sword that I can make into Enchanted next event.
2. Some really fun plot all around- I'll admit, I mostly got seriously stuck into the militia stuff, but a lot of folk had cool things to get into.
3. Commanding my first ever linear against some hard-as-fuck enemies (60global golems hitting for shatter and crush- we ended up having to pool swords to keep everyone armed) and not losing anyone despite having to head out twice (and our transporter sending us to the WRONG BLOODY CIRCLE during the first extraction)
4. Potential of a lot of training coming our way from the Militia- there are also rumblings about future positions in there for me and any others who want in over the next year. (Yeah, yeah, I spent a lot of time at the militia this weekend. )
5. Some REALLY fucking good fights.
6. Monstering with the faction on saturday (and I believe in today's battle, though I wasn't present) and having some simply epic moshes with good sportsmanship, no injuries that I heard of and a lot of fun on both sides.
7. On a more personal note, bribing a poet to insert the word 'Blancmange' into Kal and Driftwood's anniversary poem and making it scan/make sense. It did.
8. Again a personal note- while on my way back to camp to pack up on sunday evening with Kommissar Skum and Mad Man Mountain, running into a monster-ritual that was apparently aiming to crack the egg. And then (after sending Skum as a runner to get help and drop off an item) charging the ritual at MMM's side, disrupting it and suriviving long enough for over a hundred reinforcements to get there. And afterwards getting highfived by an ancestor.
9. Doing some seriously fun socialising with Clan Mountain on saturday night and the idea of a hospitality exchange with them at a near-future juncture being soundly agreed on as being a fucking awesome plan.
10. Contributing to the Militia's first ritual in absolutely ages, and getting exactly what we wanted out of it.
11. Discovering that the combination of my Mytholon Panzerjacke and my trenchcoat beneath A. looked absolutely fucking amazing, B. was light and flexible enough to actually run around in, C. was AMAZINGLY comfortable, D. was warm and E. looked absolutely fucking amazing. (It had to be mentioned twice.. I even had some of the traders commenting on it) Andy, thank you SO much for this suggestion!

Not!

1. The weather was all over the place. Friday was a goddamned quagmire and seriously cold to boot; saturday was absolutely roasting and sunday was windy as fuck.
2. The LT having severe paperwork snarlups, so it looks like any non-prebooked OSPs won't be added to the system before the end of the season at best. Was hoping to get Mighty Blow by the start of next year.
3. My new boots murdering the fuck out of my feet, until I could barely walk at time-out on friday; luckily I had some spares but I have blisters that go beyond horrific.
4. Changes to the crafting system. On the one hand, prices seem to have come down a lot. However, now extending duration on items adds +1 to their power value. You also cannot upgrade 'immune to fumble' to anything more; you have to produce a 'crafted weapon' or 'crafted shield' before you can add anything particularly shiny to it.
5. Worst of all, the cunts that I work for calling me up just before time-in on friday and telling me that my leave (booked in january) for monday was cancelled and I had to be at Coutts for 0630 this morning due to a massive blowup of drama. On arriving there today, I was told my name wasn't even in the system and they had no idea what the hell I was doing there. The words 'workplace massacre' have taken on a delicious new resonance for me.

However, aside from the weather (which was always going to be a risk-factor at this time of year) and my work-and-boots issues, the only real problems on a wider scale were points 2 and 4- while these are massive frustrations, they didn't stop an event that started with a horrific lack of keen on almost everyone's parts turning into an absolute stormer of a time by Sunday.

Seriously fired up now- it was great seeing those of you who could make it along (Shirley, your presence in particular was a wonderful surprise) and really looking forwards to the next event and seeing the rest of you guys!
