Hopeful signs

In the "things are looking up" category:

Our offer on the funky fifties house was accepted last week, and the inspection went well on Sunday. Barring unexpected hitches, we will close on the house on May 31. Dude, we're dangerously close to owning a house!

Yesterday, I sent out some ten resumes, all to Montessori schools in eastern Mass., trolling for assistant teacher positions for next year (most Montessori schools don't seem to bother posting job openings; they just wait for folks to come to them). As of half an hour ago, two have already contacted me, one asking for an interview and offering to add me to their substitute list immediately. It's in Canton, MA, which is over an hour from Haverhill, MA, where the house is. But you know what? I think I don't care. After a year of un- or under-employment, I feel certain that a steady and enjoyable job would be well worth the driving.

Also, I have recently discovered the music of Rolf Lislevand. Oh my goodness. So incredibly beautiful. If you have any love at all for early music or classical guitar, you want to check this man out. Thank you, iTunes discovery downloads. I am your addict.

And several people I love are getting very close to having babies. In fact, one of them just did. This just generally makes the world feel like a better place.
