So this month has been a lot of getting ready for stuff that will happen later. We leave for the road trip to NYC to visit
zoethebrave in 2 weeks from today, so we've been planning stuff to do aside from the Madonna show and shopping. My work got extended to Aug 31st, so that's cool - some extra $ and then we'll go visit the nephews on Labour Day weekend before heading up to
thunder_bay to see the rest of our families. When we get back I have to finally deal with the rest of the junk in the office to make room for my younger sister coming to stay in August (my younger neice is having a birthmark removed down here). They haven't been down for a few years, so it should be good.
Since work is nice and slow for the summer, I've been working on my
website redesign with the nifty new logo
cyn helped me with. Let me know what you think, like and hate since I'm looking to make improvements. I'm going to embed my
cancongamer journal and try to get some discussion going, so we'll see what happens there. I'm also starting to really get hooked on Xbox Live, especially the cool little indie games on Live Arcade. It's kinda funny how M$ actually came up with something cool and the achievement system does bring out the competitive nature of people. I managed to find a couple of decent places to find other players too, so I'm not playing against 12 year olds that play the game 8hrs straight a day either.
I'm still thinking about work too, as in, do I still want to be a webbie. I still like doing some of this stuff, but it seems most companies want 1 person to do everything from design to back-end these days, which I've never been into. I'm definitely looking at something gaming related too, but definitely need to network some more. After we're back from Thunder Bay, there's the
Canadian Awards for Electronic and Animated Arts in Vancouver that I might go to, since I'm going to be one of the judges for the game awards, so everything seems kinda wide open right now, which I guess is better than feeling trapped. Right?
