Big night out
Tomorrow night Lori and I are headed to the Inn at Little Washington for a romantic evening by ourselves. The boys will be staying with Grandma for two whole nights. It's a combination 5th wedding anniversary and 10th anniversary since we started dating. It will be ridiculously expensive, but you only live once so what the heck.
I had a surreal moment at work today. A while back I had written a paper (on very short notice) about a particular technology. Since I had very little time to write the paper, I threw together a quick summary on the current state of the art based on some documents I had handy. A few weeks ago, I got a call from someone working in the same technology area who wanted to talk to me about it. I met with him today. During the meeting we quickly realized that I had written the paper based almost entirely on documents that he had written. His reaction? "I'd always been meaning to write up a summary of what I'd been doing. Nice job. Do you mind if I use your paper to show others what this technology is about?" Your government at work.
