My original flight to Minnesota was canceled today for no particular reason, and I was bumped to a flight an hour later. No big deal, I found out early in the day and was able to reschedule my cab. The flight takes all of an hour, but they schedule it for 1.5, figuring 30 minutes for driving around O'Hare aimlessly.
I arrived and got my rental car, a Ford Focus, despite the fact that I had reserved a mid-size. I didn't feel like arguing though, and took my Econo-box. It's not horrible, I suppose, but the engine makes me die a little when I put down the throttle.
I got to my hotel after having to turn around once. I got a room at the airport Marriott, having had good experiences with them in the past, and getting a phenomenal rate. Well this one was a bit of a disappointment. It's not bad but hasn't been updated in a really long time. It's just not up to the level I expected from a Marriott.
It was 8:30 when I checked in, and there didn't seem to be any non-chain restaurants nearby, so I settled for a burger and a couple beers at the hotel restaurant. The burger was overcooked and bland. This trip is not off to a good start.
Thankfully I managed to book a few more appointments over the next couple days, so I won't be spending as much time at the hotel as I had feared. The weather isn't supposed to be great either. It might break 70 on Thursday :-/
