Or manga in Poland. And some other stuff.
Last years have been pretty sad for manga and anime fans in Poland. In 1999, two manga-only publishing companies were founded, followed by two polish branches of anime-distributing companies a few years later. In 2009, all of them, as well as a small independant manga and comic book company (which released, among other things, "Fun Home") were closed. However, this year both companies suddenly came back from being dead, JPF publishing a luxurious edition of "Umazaki" in August and Waneko announcing license of "Pandora Hearts" (will be released monthly, with first volume in November). As the icing on a cake, JPF published bound edition of "Poe no Ichizoku", Hagio Moto's 1973 gothic manga about vampires, full of emotions but surprisingly completely lacking blood. That's so far my favourite vampire story, even though some part seem to be over the top melodramatic for realism, but we are actually talking about a gothic story, so... Anyways, I was totally surprised that a story completely without any fetishes (unless you count subtle shonen-ai subtext) can be ever licensed in a country where the manga market is almost dead. Or un-dead.
Speaking about the manga, I discussed it with my new classmate. Due to a lot of people not passing the final exams in June, we are currently having only two chinese groups instead of three, and they were rearanged. I only know one person from my group from before, as we had all lessons except literature separately. The girl I was talking about claimed "Poe" was the best manga ever, period(I can really agree on that), another girl turned out to be a yaoi fangirl, and I literally fell when another suddenly started talking about "Kaze to Ki no Uta", a little known very old yaoish manga, and by the way my absolute favourite. Wow. I like my classmates. :3
Also, I suddenly realised that most of my favourite mangas tend to belong to yaoi/shonen-ai genre or have shonen-ai subtexts. Let's just say that my favourite authors are Asumiko Nakamura, Keiko Takemiya, Hagio Moto and Kumihiko Ikuhara (okay, THAT one is visibly less yaoish).I do not consider myself a yaoi fangirl. Or maybe I'm just in denial. I probably am, as I saw main characters of "Merchant of Venice", Antonio and Bassanio, as a gay couple later turning to a threesome with Portia. That's probably the weirdest interpretation ever ^^
Our neighbour's cat disappeared :( I'm sad, because it was a friendly kitty with an unique grey-red fur pattern. I really hope she returns. Meanwhile, I started coming into a conclusion that felek is dead. Strangely, I do not feel grief. Every other time I lost an animal I had an emotional breakdown, even in the case where he just run away during summer, but not now. Huh.
