Neal is out and about, as per usual, though he's walking with a cane. It doesn't do much to help him but it's something. The white board he's been using to speak is under one shoulder and he has a coffee in his hands. There;s also a bag slung over one shoulder with a sketchbook and drawing supplies ( Read more... )

Abby is looking for something. Several somethings, in fact, things that won't be easy to find, but that she was hoping she could find in the Kashtta and either bargain for or outright steal.

This would be why she's prowling around the upper floors and why approaches El's door, and comes to an abrupt stop in her search as she picks up on the woman's pain.

She's hesitant for a second only because she doesn't want to intrude on somebody's solitude, but the door is cracked open and -- well, she can help and she can't pass that up.

So she open the door a little wider, very carefully, and takes a step inside, careful to keep her voice very quiet she she addresses Elizabeth. "Hey -- are you all right?"

A stupid question, but a decent opening.

El groans a little, her eyes closing tightly as more light is let in.

"Please don't open it that much," she says, her voice tense as she turns her back on Abby and the light. It takes her an extra moment to realize she has actually been asked a question, nonetheless one as silly as 'are you okay''.

"I'm all right," she replies. "Just a headache, that's all. I'm fine." She smiles tightly,

She carefully closes the door back its previous crack behind her and then takes a few steps closer to the bed, tugging on the edge of her glove.

"Would you like it to go away?" she offers softly. In any other situation, she would probably just find an excuse to touch her without asking, but invading somebody's room and then starting to handle them without an explanation is probably not the smartest way to handle things. "I can help, if you want."

It takes her a minute to register what she's saying, then it takes her another minute to realize who's saying it.

"Abby, right," she says, not turning around. "You're wone of Neal's friends."

One of Neal's questionable friends. she is weighing her options. The last friend of Neal's she trusted worked out well but.....

"Yeah," she answers softly, nodding even though El can't see her. "I'm an angel. I heal, that's what I do. I don't know if you've been here long enough to hear about the different types, but--"

She cuts herself off rather abruptly, realizing that her rambling, quiet as she's keeping it, is not going to help, and lets her now-ungloved hand hover over Elizabeth's arm -- not too close, not close enough to be invading space, but closer than she was. "I can take the pain away if you want," she finishes simply.

"Neal explained it to me," she says. I wouldn't have actually known if you hadn't offered.."

She rolls onto her stomach, squinting up at the girl for a moment. "You don't need to do this," she says. "I have painkillers for times like these.

She's not saying no, not exactly,, shes just pointing out the fact.

"I want to," she says quickly, smiling slightly. "It's what I'm supposed to do. Why shouldn't I help you, if I can?"

She's noticed that it's not a no, and she gestures towards Elizabeth's arm. "Can I?"

She nods, though it's reluctant. "Go ahead," she says. Who am I to stop you if it's what youre meant to do?"

The girl seems sweet, good, not what she was expecting hwen she heard of the family, despite what Neal told her. Oh well, that just means she might have to get to know her better.

Especially if she can get rid of the damned headaches.

She offers Elizabeth a comforting smile, and then she closes her eyes, taking a deep breath to steady herself as her hand closes on Elizabeth's skin.

It feels like a sledgehammer, and her hand tightens a little bit as it hits, but it's not the worst she's ever had -- not even close -- and it doesn't take too much to adjust to it. She doesn't move her hand until she's absolutely certain it should be completely gone.

"Better?" she asks, still on the soft side, though this time it's for her own benefit.

She can still feel it at the edges of her head, the pain wanting to creep back in but it's not as bad as it had been, not by a long shot. This is more than tolerable and she's happy as can be.

"Thank you," she says with a relieved sigh. "Really just...thank you. That's been at me for most of the day."

"You're welcome," Abby answers with a smile. She's glad to hear the relief in Elizabeth's voice, really glad that she can help. Her powers screwing up with Neal earlier this week made her kind of nervous, but she hasn't had a problem since then, so it seems to be a fluke, or a rift influence problems.

...And speaking of whom. "So, that would make you Elizabeth, right?" she asks belatedly, opening her eyes slowly. She studies El for a few seconds before her hand goes up to her temples, trying to rub away the headache before it has a chance to latch onto her own tiredness and general poor state and stick around for longer than the healing would necessarily cause.

"It would." She smiles. "It's nice to meet you, though I wouldn't have minded if things were a little different."

Sitting up, she moves to start digging around in the table next to the bed, pulling out a bottle of pills. "Those usually help, though they usually knock me for a loop too. Just to warn you."

"You too," she says sincerely. "It's always nice to meet a friend of a friend."

She shakes her head. "Thanks, but it's okay. It'll be gone pretty soon and it's not as bad for me as it was for you. Just gotta wait for it to pass a bit more." And she can't really afford to be out of it right now, she has things she has to do, things to find.

Which is when it occurs to her that as long as she's here, she might as well see if she can get something she needs. "Hey, you, uh, wouldn't happen to have any feathers, would you? Or something gold you're willing to part with?"
