Nick Andros is spending his morning juggling apples off one of the many apple carts that seem to have shown up around Chicago. This particular cart is on a street near the Kashtta. He's not very good at it, more than one apple is at his feet from being dropped and he can't seem to get a rhythm going if he tries more than three, but he'd been trying to cheer up a kid who found a worm in one of the apples. The kid is long gone, but Nick has nowhere better to be, so juggling it is.
Unlike a lot of the people this week, the rift's effect on him isn't that obvious until you talk to him and, well, hear him talk. The relaxed mood this week might be thanks to the rift, or at least one of it's apples, as well, but he hasn't entirely realized that.
Peter Burke has a horse. And a sword, instead of his gun. And a compulsion to get in the middle of the action where things are going on this week, especially if it involves somebody in danger. So when the rift spits out a dragon and the dragon tries to go to a rampage, it's impossible not to step in, even if the smart thing to do would probably be to get help instead of trying to face the thing himself.
There is a bit of an epic battle going on down one of Chicago's side streets.
Abby Eddings looks about ready to fall over. Since Sunday, she's been running errands and doing tasks for a faerie she met, and while she's far too stubborn to give up now -- not with the things she's been given for the tasks she's done, not with all the people who are healed and helped in return for her work -- she's getting worn out quickly.
So she's sitting in Grant Park in the late afternoon with two large bowls, one full of black dust, the other with the seeds being separated from the dust. It's time-consuming, careful work, but it's one of the easier tasks set to her so far. She looks like she hasn't slept more than a couple of hours all week (true), and she's got bruises and scrapes visible around the edges of her clothes even though they cover most of her as usual, but she's smiling as she works.
Remus Lupin is still a genie. He's starting to get slightly more annoyed with this turn of events, mostly because the lamp keeps pulling him back in and tossing him somewhere new as soon as someone makes all their wishes, but it's still mostly outweighed by amusement.
So the lamp is sitting innocently somewhere, not a particularly normal sight, but also not too obvious in its current resting place. Come pick it up and get three wishes, if you haven't found it yet this week.
