Bela Talbot is sitting in a cafe in the municipal district of Chicago, sipping a cup of tea. Contrary to popular belief, she's actually work, even though she looks like she's doing absolutely nothing. Stealing something that's adjacent to a government building takes planning, so that is what she's doing. Planning. She's really good at that ( Read more... )

Anyone who knows Parker knows she loves Grant Park. It's good for it's trees and all of it's hiding places, and it brings her a certain amount of comfort. Maybe because it's where she first found herself when she arrived in Chicago all those months ago. It's the closest link she has to home in that way ( ... )

It takes Sophie a moment to see Parker -- for the most part she's still too confused. There's something about this place that doesn't feel right to her, and she doesn't know how to change that. She is turning on her heels for a moment, trying to distinguish where she is, and when her eyes land on Parker, there's a brief moment of relief that's followed by even more confusion.

"Parker?" If whatever happened to her happened to the whole team, it's understandable why the girl might be terrified. "Parker, is that you?"

She feels something funny happen in her heart, and Parker curls her toes as though holding herself to the ground. She still doesn`t know what to believe. She`s still scared. But not for the reasons Sophie thinks. Sophie doesn`t realize just how long Parker has been here and just what she`s been through.

"Are you really Sophie?" She asks it quietly, but loud enough for the woman to hear.

"What?" Sophie doesn't really understand the question. Now she's more concerned, and she takes a few steps towards Parker, reaching one hand out to her. "Parker, of course I'm the real Sophie. What's wrong?"

Well Buffy, there may not be cars, but there is a Nellie. Really she's just trying to mind her own business and get from point A to point B, but she should know by now that it's never as simple as that in Chicago. Because right now she happens to look up and see the other blond flying her way.

She doesn't react quiet fast enough. Her arms jut out and her mouth opens, but the next thing she knows she is crumpled on the ground underneath someone. And she's aching.

"Owww."

Buffy felt the softness of her landing, and groaned. "Sorry!" She's apologizing even though it's not her fault, because really -- this girl has no way of knowing that it's not her fault. And she is the one who picked a fight with a troll in the first place.

Taking a breath, she rolls off her as quickly as possible, and then holds up a hand. "Just ... stay here, okay?"

And with that, she's right back to heroing.

Nellie just blinks at that. She's a little surprised at the entire ordeal, so she can't do much but nod and watch the girl run off again. Then her eyes settle on the troll.

Oh boy.

Were she anyone else she might go help out, but she's not anyone else. She knows that she can't do much to help, and it looks like Buffy is doing pretty well on her own. She'll just scoot out of the way and watch for now. And call out a warning or two.

"Watch out for his foot!"

Buffy sidesteps the foot and scrambles around the side of the troll, trying to find where their weapons had fallen to. It takes her a minute to get hands on the scythe, and all it took is a hop, skip and a swing, and the troll is down one arm, spraying green blood everywhere.

Gross.

But at least he's down one weapon of mass destruction. She darts to the side and is trying to find some leverage to launch herself a little higher, but she's not finding any.

Medusa hasn't been out much since she returned to Chicago. She -- well, let's face it -- the woman has been hiding.

But tonight she decided that enough was enough. There is more than one asshat out there that she is sure deserves a good cementing, and out of nowhere, she is finally ready for it.

She is out patrolling the streets for anyone -- anyone -- who would deserve her gaze, when she sees a -- well, she doesn't know what it is. But it's big and it's throwing a girl and that is enough for Medusa.

It only takes her a moment to scale the thing's back -- after all, it's probably a little distracted, throwing the girl like that -- and try to wrap her legs around his neck.

And then she is pounding with all her might on the very top of the thing's head as if it were a bubble. Not in that she's strong; just that she isn't caring that she isn't.

She just needs to be sure to not bleed. Medusa knows she needs to be very careful about that ( ... )

Buffy hits the pavement and rolls, and it takes her a moment to catch her breath. She hates it when trolls decide that it's fun to play people ball, instead of baseball. They don't seem to understand that it's not nearly as much fun for the person who is getting thrown as it is for the person who's doing the throwing.

When she looks up and sees someone beating the troll from the top down? Well, she has to say she's a little impressed. But not too impressed to give her a hand. She bounces back onto feet, dodges around the flailing troll, and reaches for the troll's hammer that happened to have been placed to the side when it decided she was more fun to throw. She picks it up adjusts her grip for the weight, and then swings it right at his back.

Hard.

If Medusa weren't so preoccupied with bashing this thing's head in she'd raise some impressed eyebrows Buffy's way. Girl's got moves.

And it's a good thing that Buffy's not too impressed to decide on the "not helping Medusa" side of things, because Medusa needs the help, even if she's -- sort of not acknowledging it yet.

She bellows loud and guttural, instinctive, when the troll reaches for her and and tries to pry her from its neck.

Okay, so it doesn't just try.

Soon Medusa is flying along pretty much the same trajectory that Buffy flew. But even as she's flying her fists are clenched, ready for more pummeling. A grin almost makes its way onto her face, and she's on her feet, crouching, as soon as she's able.

"Will it kill us?" She screams it at Buffy, who, she sees, has taken the beast's own weapon and is using it against it. Oh, Medusa likes this girl. Her face does break into a grin at the sight of that, and at the monster's sudden howl ( ... )

"Probably!" Buffy shouts back. Trolls are dumb and she's pissing it off. And they normally don't settle for maiming when they can go for the kill. They're not subtle enough that way.

She uses a plastic crate as a stepping stone to launch herself up, trying to aim for a shot to the head before she glances back at her co-pilot in this troll battle. "Why?"

because it had to happen eventually :3 rose_tainted April 16 2011, 14:35:11 UTC
Ever since she arrived in Chicago, Rose had discovered that she was able to go out into the sun for short periods of time. An hour, maybe two at the most before she would begin to burn. She couldn't quite explain it but Rose thought that it may have been due to being here. The Rift had perhaps changed her somehow.

So, she had decided to test her theory and take a wander around Chicago to prove it. Somehow, Rose had ended outside a cafe and looked briefly into the window.

No. It wasn't possible, was it?

Sitting there was a woman who looked exactly like her, save for the much longer hair and the dress sense. Did Rose truly have a doppelganger herself? She hesitates for a moment, unsure if she should go straight into the cafe and demand an explanation.

Which is exactly what Rose did.

yes. yes it did. enjoythe_ride April 16 2011, 14:55:51 UTC
The Rift changes everyone. Bela knows that better than most -- pyrokinesis isn't something that can just go unnoticed. She's managed to put at least that behind her at this point and focus on just living her life in Chicago -- even if that means her temper flares a little hotter than normal.

What she doesn't notice, however, is the woman with her face making her way towards her. If she had, she probably would have shot her, right there in the cafe. It would have gotten her nowhere, but her world is too fond of it's shapeshifters for her not to at least consider the option.

Instead, she's sitting there, sipping her tea and just watching the buildings, looking to try and find what would be best for her opening.

Rose is torn between being angry and upset, or just remain calm at the situation. As far as she was aware, shapeshifters did not walk around in her world. Perhaps this other woman was from another universe; but Rose knew that things weren't always as they seemed.

As she drew closer to her, Rose discovered quite quickly that the other woman was human as her vampire senses kicked in. Which only served to make her more confused and troubled. Eventually, Rose came to a stop at the table, clearing her throat to catch the stranger's attention. It would do her no good to cause a scene.

Of course, she didn't know how the other woman would react to seeing Rose standing there and wearing her face.

Bela looks up at the sound, and visibly jumps. Her first instinct is to go for her gun, but they're in a public place, and considering she has no silver bullets on her, it probably wouldn't do her much good. Then the instincts die down, and she remembers that she's not home -- she's in another world, and in that world, it's possible for there to be doppelgangers. Every person has an exact double, after all, it's only fair to say that those odds increase when other universes are thrown into the picture.

However, when you're looking at one with your face, it's hard to truly remain calm about the situation.

"Who are you?"

Damon is going to troll Bela, because he is a troll and the narration said that he would. He is strolling on by the cafe when he notices her sitting there with coffee in hand. Now he could go on about his day, but obviously, he has to bother people that he knows and has bothered in the past.

It's what he does.

"You drink coffee while sitting in cafes frequently, don't you," he says with a smirk as he stops in front of her to block her view. "Is your voice on the right way again at least so I can be graced by your snark off paper this time?"

Bela glances up when she sees Damon coming, and she can't help but smirk. Given her recent conversation with Rose, she has more than a few questions for him, but she doesn't want to jump into that too soon.

"It's tea, actually," she replies, crossing her legs in front of her. "I find it vastly superior to coffee."

Damon smirks back at her, folding his arms across his chest as he looks down at her with something between amusement and his usual asshole-ness. That's the only word the narration can think for it/him sometimes.

"I see. My mistake. You are British after all so you would go for the tea instead." He rolls his eyes and then plops down into the seat in front of her. "Vastly superior."

"Americans tend to underestimate the value of a good cup of tea," she says with a teasing grin. "I'll try not to hold the brainwashing of your culture against you."

And yes, Bela is very British. However did you tell?

She shifts in her chair a bit, before leaning back more. "By the way. You mistook me for someone when we first met." And no, she hasn't forgotten about that. She just chose to ignore it. "Her name wouldn't happen to be 'Rose' would it?"
