There she was just a walking down the street [open]

Tosh is walking home after a long day at work. She's actually going to sleep in her own bed tonight and planning to enjoy it. It's been too long since she had a chance to get a full nights sleep. She's checking her hand held, glancing up only to make sure she didn't trip or run into anyone. It's late evening and there isn't anyone else on the ( Read more... )

A girl in a rather ridiculous outfit pauses, taking note of the face. Her visor scans it, and yes, it is registering for her. She'd uploaded the information from Torchwood as she didn't know it into the databanks and unless the Rift is playing tricks on her, that is in fact, one Toshiko Sato.

Until recently, there was one in Chicago, her visor informs her. From what it can tell, this one is not quite the same. Either a different universe or just a bit older, younger, who knows. Either way, it's not the same Tosh returned from the dead.

Tosh is one of the few that went in the quake that she misses. They had something, together, something -- she doesn't quite know how to put it. It was a relationship of sorts, a good, professional relationship that had a deep bond.

So Tosh is stopped by Sailor Mercury herself, costume and all. She holds up one hand in the name of justice and says, "Sato-san, it is imperative that you come with me."

Tosh stops startled and her eyes went huge as she realized who was in front of her. Well, not who. She knew who it looks like, but that was impossible. She wasn't real, so this had to be some joker in a costume. She really didn't have the time to deal with it, before she realized, this person knew her name. The winner of the cosplay contest somehow knew who she was.

"How do you know my name?" Tosh asked a bit taken aback. She put a hand to her waist and feels for her gun. Since working with Torchwood she'd started carrying one, although the idea of scooting a Sailor Scout was almost amusing enough to make her laugh.

"Oh, I am very sorry. Sometimes it is difficult to remember that not all Torchwood personnel seem to be familiar with the greater Torchwood network," Mercury says, looking shocked. "I have accessed your data files in the mainframe. Through it, I have learned much about later Torchwood teams that I never had the chance to work with. I was working in the early 90s, so it was before you were recruited."

It's not the entire truth. It leaves out the part where she knew Tosh before. How she worked with her, here in Chicago. But considering this Tosh is slightly different, there's no way for her to explain that without sounding entirely insane. They'll get to that part later. At least Torchwood employees are familiar with Rifts.

"Either way, it is probably best that you make your way with me to the Kashtta," she adds. "It is a better place for us to talk than here."

Torchwood? Torchwood was here? Was her team or it was it only Sailor Scouts? This all felt so real, but she didn't know what to believe anymore. She could be dreaming or under a hypnotism state. That would make more sense than Sailor Mercury working with Torchwood.

"Yes, some things can't be said in the street, but the moment we get to Kashtta, I would like some answers," Tosh tells her and realizes she'd ready to fallow wherever. It's not like she has any other choice. She doesn't even know if her money is any good here and she doesn't have any identification.

"Of course," Mercury says, nodding her head. "An odd question, and perhaps a bit presumptuous, but do you happen to know what date it is?"

She could do a deeper scan, find out Tosh's age and run that against her birth date, but somehow she feels that's an invasion of privacy. She motions to the side, stepping that way and walks towards the Kashtta. It's not that long of a walk; she doesn't usually get too far, just in case.

"Although, I will not lie, it is a pleasure to see you, Sato-san," she says. "As the current technical analyst for Torchwood Chicago, I found it rather lonely with companies."

She fallows a bit wary. At least she knows that Sailor Mercury is a good guy. That helps to settle her nerves a little bit. She's still in a different world where she doesn't know anyone and her team might not even be.

"February the twelfth," she says then ads the year as she realizes it might be important, "Two thousand and eight."

She didn't know how to take that comment. She is the technical analyst? There is Torchwood Chicago?

"If I can be of any assistance, I will be. Perhaps together we can find a way for me to get home."

"Well, at least you have the month right," Ami says brightly. "Today is the sixth of February, 2010." She tucks her arms behind her back as she walks, wondering how to best go about the situation.

"And perhaps," she agrees, although her tone is soft. It's hard not to read the girl's emotions. She's given up hope on going home, even if she hasn't given up looking for her Princess. "I have had some interesting ideas on reversing rift activity, but unfortunately, none of them have been fruitful. And I am most certainly not alone in this project."

The information isn't really helpful. Same month, but two years later. So much could have happened in two years. She can't fathom what she'd missed, but this whole universe could be different so it might not matter.

"Perhaps together we could find something that works," she says still not sure about anything. It all seems so impossible yet a theory she'd worked. She wants to see this new place and get to work on some sort of technology. She'd feel safer once she was back in her natural environment or at least that's what she keeps telling herself.

"Perhaps," Mercury says, but there is no sound of hope in her voice. As much as she believes in restoring hope to this world, giving it false hope is worse than taking it away. "It is very statistically unlikely, however, Sato-san. I believe your efforts may be better afforded to other projects."

Projects, they can give her. A life again. A place in Torchwood. She assumes, at least. She can't think of a reason that Jack wouldn't want Tosh back, but there's so little she knows about this Jack Harkness.

"Either way, it will at least be possible to get you a room, a bed for the night, so that you can be comfortable."
