Tosh is walking home after a long day at work. She's actually going to sleep in her own bed tonight and planning to enjoy it. It's been too long since she had a chance to get a full nights sleep. She's checking her hand held, glancing up only to make sure she didn't trip or run into anyone. It's late evening and there isn't anyone else on the streets.
Suddenly, a flash of light blinds her. She blinks a few times to clear her eyes then glances up to see if it was a car or spotlight. She doesn't see the source of the light, but suddenly that doesn't matter. The street is wrong. She doesn't know it. She's never been here before. Someone walks by and she hears an accent. It's not even a London accent, it's American she's pretty sure. A tourist? Maybe. The next group sounds the same and she turns to stare back at them. As more poeple pass it's all she hears. The city is wrong and the accent is wrong. There is no way she got to America in a second. None that come that would come up in a normal person's mind, but she's Torchwood trained. It could be the Rift. Had she been taken? At least she had some idea what had happened, but it's not much comfort. Can she still call home? She pulls out her phone and suddenly hears a thousand, tiny voices in her mind that all build up into one that is trying to tell her something, but she panics before it makes sense. She tosses the phone into the distances and grimaces as it breaks. What was that?
She realizes she had drawn a crowd with the sudden violence and starts walking again. She makes it though the crowd and keeps going until she's sure she's far enough away from those who had noticed her are far behind. She checks street signs, trying to remember her way back so she could get to the Rift spot that would be key if she there is a back. She sits down at a bus stop, staring around her. What city is this? Was there a clue in the skyline or a newspaper nearby? What year was it? Everything looks modern, but she could be wrong. She can't be sure of anything.
