Cassie is stood in the foyer by the doors of Kashtta, not that anyone would actually know since she's currently invisible. If anyone could see her, they'd note her tiredness and the hollow look in her eyes. The recent happenings in her life are beginning to take their toll on her.

She hasn't left the building in sometime and even now, she still doesn't plan to. She's been anxiously watching the snow grow fiercer and fiercer outside, watching as people hurry inside for shelter. She's worried for her friends, unsure if they're going to get back to the Tower or not.

While no one may be able to see her, they'll definitely be able to feel her. The narration apologises now for anyone who accidentally knocks into her and gets a fright.

A fright, Matoi does not get. There are far more supernatural and frightening things that have happened to her in her life. But running into Cassie does not make her happy. It's rather annoying. Which is why she pauses, narrowing her slowly turning orange eyes at the "empty" space in front of her.

If Kafuka were here, the girl would have much to say about this. Chiri would too. But their insanity is neither needed, nor wanted.

Cassie stumbles slightly, but manages to catch her balance before she totally topples over. She wasn't paying enough attention to anyone, her eyes had been kept on the door, just waiting. She cringes, turning to see a girl staring in her direction.

"I'm really sorry," she says, "I was kind of in my own world there. ...Are you alright?"

Matoi just stares at Cassie for a long moment. Her eyes narrow slightly, then get wider. The girl can be invisible.

If she were invisible -- actually invisible -- she gets close enough, but this--

"Have you ever been in love?" Matoi asks, suddenly the picture of adorable.

Cassie winces at the girl's stare, it makes her uncomfortable - even though she can't be seen right now. The lengthy silence between the two adding to it more and more.

She blinks, startled by the question, "I... Well," she frowns a little, "I was once, but it was quite some time ago,"

It's the whole cliché: first boyfriend, first love. It ended some three years ago. "Why do you ask?"

"Ah."

Matoi pauses, thinking about that for a moment. She tilts her head to the side, soft noise, but no words coming from her lips.

"I always thought being invisible was the power of love," she says simply. "Perhaps there are other ways of being invisible as well. It is not that important."

Cassie frowns for a moment, ruffling the hair on the side of her head for a moment. She's never though of that before, but it seems rather sweet.

"Is that because love's invisible too?" she asks her. "Like, you can't see it - but you know it's there?"

She bites down on her lower lip, "I'm invisible because I choose to be. I'm ... a little sad. It's easier not being seen," It's easier to hide, to have the freedom of walking in the crowds and knowing that certain people won't be able to find you.

Dan, who hasn't left the Tower for about a week, is more confused than frightened. After shoulder-bumping Cassie on his way to get a look outside, he tenses and steps back, wondering if he's just had some bizarre somatosensory hallucination.

Stranger things have happened, really.

He shrinks under his already-too big jacket at the thought, then experimentally reaches out. When his hand touches what he thinks feels like a human arm, he blinks. "Hello?"

Cassie holds back a soft grunt as someone bumps into her, trying to remain quiet and unseen. She rubs at her shoulder slightly, she'd just tried to step out the way of one person when she'd ended up bumping into another.

When she finally looks up once more, the smiles weakly at the familiar face. Well, at least there's someone she knows that's safe here.

But as he reaches out and touches her arm, there's a slight shiver of discomfort. She hasn't had much interaction with anyone lately, she feels wary with contact. It's nothing personal, Dan.

"Hello, Daniel," she says after a long pause.

He's quick to pull his hand away when he hears Cassie's voice. "Cassie? You're-"

Invisible, apparently.

That's new.

He squints, headtilting at the spot where Cassie should be, but isn't. "Are you alright?"

Having someone a little shocked at her invisibility is also kind of new. She's never had that reaction before. Most people just think it's kinda cool. "Don't worry, I can do this a lot," she says with a nod. "It's part of the shadow thing,"

She's silent for a long time, almost unsure of how to answer his question. She ruffles the hair at the side of her head with a frown, debating on what to say.

"Not too bad," she utters, the strain of a smile in her voice. "I was just waiting, looking to see if friends are finding shelter here,"

And then she frowns, "Are you going outside?"

"No," he says, only half-lying. What he mostly intended to do was go to the door and just look without opening it, but he can't be sure he wouldn't have gone outside. He's never sure of anything he does anymore.

Part of him wishes he could do what Cassie does and just make himself invisible. But that wouldn't fix much.

"Pretty bad out there, huh?"

TOTALLY OKAY. <3 starryeyed_cass February 10 2011, 03:52:47 UTC
Cassie can understand that. Being invisible doesn't really fix much, it helps her hide away so people can't see how bad she looks. It means people can't find her. But the problems are still there, being invisible won't solve that.

"It is," she steps forward, just close enough to him let him know where she is. She doesn't feel like becoming visible again just yet. "Think the rift's done it? It's definitely not me, this time,"

She smiles weakly, but it goes unseen. "How have you been?"
