Lola has taken the Camping Trip as an opportunity to do two things. She feels homesick. She misses nature, the Spanish woods and the earth in between her toes. Being in a city all the time is not good for her, and while Grant Park is a haven for her - sometimes it's not enough.

Secondly, the Camping Trip is a chance to get her brain out of thinking that she's not in the middle of a resistance any more. There is no need for fighting or stealth tactics or plans. She's not in 1940's Spain any more. It's time she started to think that way.

So Lola is having fun just being a teenager. She's climbed on top of rocks and waded through the stream. Now, she's currently running through woodland barefoot - no longer to escape from enemy threats, but for fun. She's also consumed a great deal of sugar on the bus trip up. Chocolate was almost unheard of back home during a war and now there's enough to sink a ship with. Yup, there is a massive sugar high going on right now ( ... )

Lola isn't alone in the "homesick and missing nature" category; Kenzie's right there with her. She bolted out of the bus as soon as they arrived at the campground, eager to 1) get on solid ground again (thanks, Martha), 2) get away from the people staring at her because they've clearly never seen a girl with a bow and arrow before, and 3) locate a suitable area for bathroom purposes.

Now, she's hunting.

Or was hunting, before someone ran into her from behind and knocked the arrow in the wrong direction and scared off the doe she was watching. She whirls around with a huff and stares at Lola, lips pursed and eyes narrowed. "Excuse you."

Lola stumbles back and lands on the ground with a soft thump. She rubs at her head with a frown for a few seconds before she looks up to see who she's ran into. "Oh! Lo siento!" she apologises quickly with a shocked look before she clambers to her feet and brushes herself down.

She quickly checks that the rifle on her back is alright and that nothing has broken in her satchel. She knows she could have left her things back at Kashtta or even in her tent, but she's grown attached to the only belongings that she has left.

"I am sorry," she apologises again, this time in English. "I was not looking where I was going,"

Lola notes the bow with interest, "Are you hunting?"

Lola will actually be running directly into someone that she's already met before. He's been walking through the wilderness with his journal in his hand. It's easier to write out in the wilderness in some ways.

The noise of the city clears away, and he's only aware of the woods, the breeze, the trees.

He grunts a little, but she's not strong enough to knock him down even though he hadn't been paying attention. "Woah, hey, what's the hurry?"

David, who is always looking down, notices the bare feet. "What happened to your shoes?"

Martha will be around for every event that there is, and she will try to spend time with all of these people that she knows but rarely has the opportunity to get to know in a relaxed setting like this.

She loves the outdoors, loves the adventure of it, loves the new setting. It's nice to leave Chicago.

At some point during the night, she pulls her sleeping bag out into the grass and leaves it there, admiring the stars. In another world at another time, she traveled around in those stars from one planet to the next. It feels like years and years ago.

Usually, it feels as though it was a different person who did that traveling. Tonight, it somehow feels more like her own life.

This is Chicago. It's best to come armed. Martha has a gun on her as well, and she wouldn't blame anyone else for bringing a weapon. Thankfully, Wisconsin does seem much more docile than Chicago.

Martha looks at him when he sits. She recognizes him immediately though she was never close to the last Ianto. There had always been so much going on at Torchwood which had been at the Tower, and Martha's position had kept her at the Conrad hotel, which had its own problems.

She takes his hand in her own and shakes it. "Martha Jones," she says with a smile, pulling her hand back again. "It's nice to meet you."

Martha won't add an again to an end of that sentence. Instead, she turns back to look up at the sky again.

"How are you enjoying the great outdoors?"

Bonfire - Tag this if you want smithnjones September 25 2010, 23:28:55 UTC
At 9pm, there's a roaring bonfire in the center of all the camping sites. There are s'more to be passed around, stories to be told, new people to meet, and water and juice to drink.

There will be no alcohol on this trip. It's one of the rules of this camping area, and Martha will make sure that that one is enforced. No one wants Martha Jones yelling at them, do they? They also don't want a vengeance angel injuring them. No alcohol, people.

Harry Potter has never actually had a s'more before, and he is staring at the ingredients on the table trying to figure out how it's all put together.

And he is trying not to look as confused as he feels. He picks up a stack of graham crackers and a handful of marshmallows.

Do people honestly put all of these things together?

It makes no sense to him.

Why hello there, Harry Potter. Phoebe's Wanderer senses are tingling. She approaches and plucks a marshmallow from the bowl and eats it as it is.

The way he stares at everything doesn't go unnoticed.

She may be oblivious to some things, but not all.

"...Need some help there?" she asks, biting back a smile.

Harry looks up from his handful of marshmallows.

"I--" If he says he doesn't need help, he will be lying completely. Harry doesn't want to be the boy in the book, doesn't want to be anything like him but he doesn't want to lie either.

He looks a little sheepish but nods.

"Yes, I've actually never done this before. How do all of these parts go... together? Exactly?" Harry could probably figure it out on his own eventually, but he's wondering if it's worth the trouble. "And does it actually taste good?"

Games - Feel free to tag in here too smithnjones September 25 2010, 23:38:54 UTC
On Saturday afternoon, all of the picnics tables have games on them or decks of card. There is Candy Land, Yahtzee, Scrabble, Truth or Dare, and more. People are even betting on their poker games.

Feel free to take a seat and join in a game! Meet someone new! Suffer the horror of defeat or celebrate the victory of winning! Sore losers, people who get far too into the game.

It's time to discover what kind of person you are on game night.

Martha Jones is playing an intense game of Monopoly. There is yelling. There is so much yelling for a game of Monopoly, but it gets intense sometimes, okay?. It's come down to the final stretch.

"No, no, that's not-- I did not-- I refuse to go to jail," she says and folds her arms across her chest in protest and refusal to move that piece from its lovely spot all the way to jail. "Someone has to make me go to jail. This isn't fair!"

Who wants to force Martha's thimble to jail where it belongs?

Wes had never seen this side of his ward before. Far be it for him to be amused, but he is. He's just good at hiding it. He's been quiet for the most part, throughout the yelling and the serious business that is Monopoly.

He was a family man and always has been. That meant board game nights on Sundays after dinner together.

Clearing his throat, he picks up the thimble.

There are a few gasps from onlookers. No one dare puts Martha Jones' thimble in a corner!

Unless you're her guardian and amused within, willing to accept whatever reprisal comes from this. "You do the crime, you pay the time, Martha. Isn't that right, Ms. Dawes?"

Rachel lifts her head from where she's studying her properties. This is definitely serious business. She has not quite reached yelling point yet, but it's intense and she's playing to win.

She is the old-style shoe token. She has always liked the shoe, and has been the shoe since she was a little girl.

They would have to fight her for it.

"...I plead the fifth."

She's not a lawyer here, guys. She's a contender.

Elizabeth is going to be in many different places throughout the night and day. She wants to spend as much time as she can with as many people as she can. However, she is more subdued than usual, and it's a noticeable, and she has a tendency to go back to Josef. A lot.

She doesn't really like spending any time away from him after what happened earlier this week. She meant it when she told him that she didn't want to go without him, and he agreed to come though she knows that he doesn't like the wilderness. He loves her so he came with.

This is her first time in the wilderness, and she's standing near the lake, tossing rocks into it... and missing once so that rock flies back to hit the person that is unfortunately standing behind her. It's a very small rock, not big or heavy enough to injure anyone, but she turns and throws her hands over her mouth.

"Oops! Sorry!" Elizabeth winces, looking sheepish and shuffling her tennis shoes in the dirt. "I-- This is why they never let me play softball in gym."

The wilderness and Josef do not get along. He's never gone camping, has never thought to, and he honestly would not have contemplated attending such an event had it not been Elizabeth's special request. He's dressed in a casual sweater--casual for him, it's still rather fancy--and slacks.

He has no idea how he's going to set up a tent, but that's Josef for you. His pride will not allow him to surrender.

Josef goes in search of Elizabeth to ask where they want to stay and he gets a rock to the chest. "Hey, what'd I do to deserve this treatment?" he asks jokingly.

Elizabeth makes an apologetic face in his direction.

"It was an accident," she says and then points behind her. "I was aiming for that thing."

You know, the giant lake behind her that makes the most massive target in the history of ever.

She walks over to him and brushes off his chest where the rock hit to remove any dust or dirt from his nice sweater. "Have you ever tried to skip rocks on water before? I was trying to do that, but they kinda just plop when I did it."

"Your aim is..." Josef's voice trails off as he surveys the lake. He's amused, but he's also trying to cheer her up. That's what this camping trip is about.

And while Josef may hate camping with every fiber of his being, he's also determined. Once he sets his mind on something, he goes out to do it. "A little aimless, Sparky. I'm not going to lie to you."

He picks up a small rock while walking toward her. He does try to skip the rock on the water.

It only manages to sink down to the bottom of the lake. Good going, Josef. "...Huh. I meant to do that."
