The first thing he checks is his pocket.

He isn't sure how it'd happened, how he'd been practically flying down the road to visit Freak Lake one minute and his bike was knocking into the corner of a building taller than any in Clayton County the next, but it isn't in John's nature to dismiss the obvious. No, John is all about the small details, the little things, the things that most people ignored.

Like what was right in front of their faces.

He isn't where he should be. That he knows the second he manages to stand up, his knees a little wobbly; it hadn't been that long ago that he'd been in the hospital recovering from his ordeal at Foreman's house, after all. John wonders if perhaps this is the result of one of demons; perhaps Nobody's ability? The way Foreman had talked about it, each one of them was different. Who's to say that one of them can't work at a distance?

Notes to take, plans to make. John the Brave is just a little out of his depth, but the phone is still in his pocket and he's not actually hurt.

He grabs up his bike and starts looking around, trying to figure out where he might be. A city, obviously, but which one was the question. He'd never been all that interested in geography, unfortunately, but as he starts moving, he figures his first stop should be a phone, call his mother so she doesn't worry. Call Margaret to hopefully keep his mother from freaking out.

Call Brooke--

No, that would be a waste of money. She didn't want to deal with him; he was a reminder of that horrible experience, one that wasn't even his fault. Okay, maybe it was sort of his fault, but only because he'd done the right thing, stopped a killer.

I'm wasting time.
