Josef Soltini dragged himself out of an alleyway fifteen minutes ago. He's got a black eye and he's noticeably limping as he makes his way back home. It has not been his day. He's currently on the phone with someone who is to immediately dispose of the two dead bodies he left behind.
He's more worried about the state of his tailored suit.
Phoebe Donovan is dangling off the first-story window of an apartment building somewhere in downtown Chicago. It isn't the short fall that's keeping her from letting go of the window's ledge, but the alleyway's garbage dumpster directly below her.
...there is a legitimate explanation to her predicament.
[backdated to about a week ago] A few blocks away from the Conrad Hotel, a nice-looking cab pulls over and Rachel Dawes stumbles out of it. She's wearing the same clothes she was wearing seven days ago, even though they have been cleaned and neatly pressed. Her neck is bruised and her hands are shaky.
She doesn't know what day it is, and at the moment she's too disoriented to realize she's back where she started.
And somewhere in Grant Park, long after the night has settled, a Rift opens up and a nasty looking beast falls through it. Wes Gannon doesn't really know his mythology. All he knows is it's got claws and he does not want to be its midnight snack.
Most of the onlookers have wisely chosen to run in the opposite direction. Wes either has a death wish, or he's been in this kind of situation in the past. "You're one ugly sonuvabitch, aren't you?"
It might be both.
