Split From Our Desire to Be

The not-quite-opened-yet Second Home Spiritual and Emotional Wellness Center is located in a little strip mall between a laundromat and a donut shop. It's a rather humble beginning, but it's a beginning. The parking lot is pretty active, since Topher found a some people to help out with the car wash. Topher himself is in the shade overseeing the cash box and making sure the volunteers don't get heat stroke. Anyone who gets their car washed or donates to Second Home also gets a coupon for 10% off their purchase in the donut shop that day. That little perk was added to the plan that morning when Topher was getting donuts for the volunteers. It seems to be working out well for the shop and the center.

Elsewhere in Chicago, specifically Grant Park, Sakura's up a tree. This is unfortunately not a whimsical or fun tree climbing. No, this is an oh-god-I-hope-that-thing-can't-climb tree climbing. When Sakura finds trouble, she really finds trouble, and unfortunately she dropped her cellphone while she was running, not that she really knows who to call for help when there's a creature that looks like an unholy blend of a cat, a snake, and a alligator clawing at the bottom of the tree she's in. Seriously, who would she call for this? Animal control? The Ghostbusters? Some nice heroic person who happens to be walking by? Actually, she doesn't need a cell phone to scream for help.

Jennifer Rose is in a coffee shop. She's curled up in a comfy chair with her drink on a little table near by, and a drawing pad in her lap. Around her feet, she has a few bags of art supplies. It seems that someone was able to get a supply list from her professors a little early, and school supplies is necessary shopping, even if not everything in those bags is necessary for her class work. She's more than cheerful enough after a successful shopping trip to try to start a conversation with anyone who sits down near her.
