I will gather up the pieces from the filthy ground.

Night has settled over Chicago. Rachel (Dawes if you will) is new to the city and to the world within the world itself, but even she's beginning to understand the quiet is never truly quiet. The silence that surrounds her up on the roof of the Conrad seems harmless, but her thoughts are loud.

And emotions cloud everything else at the moment.

She still needs to find coping skills for emotions that aren't her own. Hers she understands, hers she gnaws to the bone until they're no longer a mystery. She never leaves anything ignored or denied. Everyone else's she's come into contact with throughout the day - they build up, simmer on the surface and threaten to explode.

Jogging every morning helps.

Fresh air at night does, too.
