"Sorry, do I know you?" It's asked pleasantly enough, but she's totally ready to kick your ass if you're some sort of creep, Rafael, and don't you forget it.

He offers a hand, and another smile. "Rafael Navarro. I'm... something of a spiritual counselor, and a student of humanity. Sometimes, I look at a person, or I walk by them, and I understand things. I'd just like to hear your story. Maybe help if I can. I mean no harm, I promise."

She gestures to the chair across from her. "Sit down, then. Would you like some coffee?"

He regards her thoughtfully. "It seems to me you have a decision you're struggling with. Information you wish to give to someone you care about."

"My friends... bosses..." Hm, this needs better definition. "Back home, in Manchester, I was a WD-- a DC." They don't make mention of the "woman" part anymore, she needs to remember that. "A detective constable. My DI, detective inspector, and my DCI - that's detective chief inspector - are both here. And they're... in a bit of a relationship."
Which is both weird and completely natural for the two of them at the same thing. She guesses they've always been sort of circling each other in that weird way they had. "It's just... back home, Sam - the DI - and I, we had a bit of a flirt now and again. And now I think... I don't know about Sam, but I think the Guv feels all guilty or sommat because we'd had a bit of a flirt, but now he's... involved with Sam, even though it was only ever flirting, and..."
She sighs. "I really do like Sam, but they're... I don't mind. I don't need to be with Sam to be happy, and he doesn't need ( ... )

"I don't envy you the situation," he says sympathetically, stirring sugar into his coffee. "But I find it admirable that you want to clear the air, and make things understood between the three of you. Not many people would have that courage, Annie."
He purses his lips, regarding her. "Do the three of you continue to work together here? Romantic and personal relationships are always much more complicated in the workplace. And have they really not made it public knowledge that they are together? Do you know simply because you're so close to them, and you can read them, rather than because they themselves have said so?"
