Enter Maka, being dragged by Soul. This is so not her thing. She would much rather be back at the Gauche, reading or training or doing anything that is not being at a carnival.

But no. Soul is on another campaign to force her into his idea of fun.

"You know," Soul says over his shoulder to her, glowering a little--though it's more a mock-glower than anything. "We've been training nearly nonstop, and never mind how weird you've been. We haven't gone out in forever. It's high damn time you did something fun, so I don't want to hear any complaining."

He flashes a sharp-toothed grin. "Girls who stay inside all the time start growing mushrooms, didn't you know?"

And it's a carnival. It doesn't get much more fun and interesting than a carnival, right?

Mari's coming out of her tent, looking a bit flushed and if her hair has a certain mussed look to it, well... That has nothing to do with anything, really.

She's just switching the sign out on her tent to indicate that she's back open when she notices the kids.

"How's about I read your fortunes, children?" She giggles, waving them over. She's in a good mood right now. Fear.

"I haven't been weird! I've been thinking." She eyes the carnival like a girl condemned. "And I'm not going to grow mushrooms. I haven't yet, anyway."

When the fortune lady comes out of her tent, Maka shakes her head. "No, thanks. We're fine."

"You've been weird," Soul concludes with an air of finality. "And just give it time. Toadstools all over you, you just wait. Lucky I saved you in time."

He looks over at the fortuneteller and grins his shark grin. "Actually, yeah! That'd be cool. How much does it cost?"

He elbows Maka. "Come on, live a little."
